The Prophesied Eliyah To Come

What Will the Eliyah to Come Do?

Malakhi 4: 5-6 reads, "4:5Behold, I will send you Eliyah the prophet before the great and terrible day of Yahweh come. 4:6He shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; lest I come and strike the earth with a curse."

Turning the Heart of the People to Yahweh

Yeshayahu 6: 8-10 reads, " 6:8I heard the voice of the Sovereign, saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?' Then I said, 'Here am I; send me.' 6:9He said, 'Go, and tell this people, "Hear you indeed, but don't understand; and see you indeed, but don't perceive. 6:10Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn again, and be healed."'"

Imparting Perception and Understanding of Yahweh's Ways

Yahweh shows us in the quote from Yeshayahu that the people who turn again to him, the people he heals, are those who see with their eyes, and hear with the ears, and understand with their hearts. Therefore, it appears that those coming in the spirit and power of Eliyah impart perception and understanding of Yahweh's ways, such that when the people perceive and understand Yahweh's ways they do indeed repent of their iniquities and turn again to Yahweh's ways. And when they do so, Yahweh, in his tender mercy, heals them of their sin and the consequences of their sin, in that he forgives them and does not hold their sin against them.

Those coming in the spirit and power of Eliyah must therefore be knowledgeable, understanding and wise in Yahweh's ways.

Those Who Fear Yahweh by Commandments of Men

Yeshayahu 29: 13-14 reads, " 29:13The Sovereign said, 'Because this people draw near to me, and with their mouth and with their lips to honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which has been taught them. 29:14Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.'"

Yahweh here shows us that the hearts that are turned to him are not necessarily those of people who honour him with their mouths and with their lips, and draw near to him. Not necessarily! For there are many who do such things whose hearts are still far from him, and therefore not turned to him. For when such people worship Yahweh by following and doing commandments of men, thinking that by doing commandments of men they are indeed following him, they are truly mistaken! For when people follow the commandments of men their hearts are indeed far from Yahweh!

Hearts that are Truly Near to Yahweh

Therefore, the people whose hearts are near to Yahweh, the people whose hearts are turned to Yahweh, are those who do not do the commandments of men thinking that by doing those commandments they are fearing Yahweh. For doing the commandments of men is fearing men, not Yahweh! Therefore those who fear Yahweh, those whose hearts are near to Yahweh, those whose hearts are turned to Yahweh, are those who do YAHWEH'S COMMANDMENTS! The fear of Yahweh is doing Yahweh's commandments, not men's commandments.

It therefore appears that those coming in the spirit and power of Eliyah do not teach men's commandments. They teach, instead, Yahweh's commandments. For it is only by doing Yahweh's commandments that our hearts are near to Yahweh, and our hearts are turned to Yahweh!

People Who Know Righteousness

Yeshayahu 51: 7-8 reads, " 51:7Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; don't you fear the reproach of men, neither be you dismayed at their insults. 51:8For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation to all generations."

Yahweh here shows us that the people who know righteousness are those in whose heart is his law. In other words, righteousness and the law of Yahweh go together.

Therefore, seeing that Yah'shuah attested to Yahchanan as having come in the way of righteousness, it is evident that he came in the way of the law of Yahweh. Other scriptures we have seen above also attest to Yahchanan as having come in the way of the law of Yahweh. Also, Eliyah's heart was to turn the people back to Yahweh's covenant, Yahweh's law. It should therefore be seen that those who come in the spirit and power of Eliyah do indeed come in the way of righteousness, in the way of the law of Yahweh, for the law of Yahweh is in their heart!

Returning to Yahweh

Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 4: 1-4 reads, "4:1If you will return, Yisra'el, says Yahweh, if you will return to me, and if you will put away your abominations out of my sight; then you shall not be removed. 4:2And you shall swear, 'As Yahweh lives,' in truth, in justice, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory. 4:3For thus says Yahweh to the men of Yahudah and to Yerushalayim, 'Break up your fallow ground, and don't sow among thorns. 4:4Circumcise yourselves to Yahweh, and take away the foreskins of your heart, you men of Yahudah and inhabitants of Yerushalayim; lest my wrath go forth like fire, and burn so that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.'"

It should be noted that returning to Yahweh entails putting away abominations out of his sight. It entails forsaking all false mighty ones - idols - that one is serving, and serving only Yahweh, which is the circumcision of the heart. Following after all of his commandments and doing them. And his commandments, his law, are truth, justice and righteousness.

Why Wrath Goes Forth From Yahweh

It should also be noted that the reason wrath goes forth from Yahweh is the evil of the doings of the people. In other words, when the people are living according to Yahweh's law, according to truth, justice and righteousness, there is no cause for wrath to go forth from Yahweh. But when they rebel against him, turning to abominations, and doing falsehoods, injustice and evil, wrath goes forth from Yahweh.

Therefore, in Malakhi 4: 5-6, when Yahweh says that he will send Eliyah the prophet, and that Eliyah will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest he comes and strikes the earth with a curse, it is evident that the people are living in rebellion against Yahweh. For wrath only goes forth from Yahweh when they have turned to abominations, and are doing falsehoods, injustice and evil. Seeing that Eliyah the prophet to be sent before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes will, by undertaking his works, avert the curse on the earth, it is evident that the turning of the hearts of the people will be towards Yahweh and his law. The people are to depart from committing the abominations that they will be committing. They will depart from the way of falsehoods, injustice and evil. They will turn to Yahweh the Mighty One of Yisrael. They will do truth, justice and righteousness, doing the law of Yahweh that encapsulates all these.

Therefore those coming in the spirit and power of Eliyah necessarily come in the way of righteousness, truth and justice. They preach the law of Yahweh and turn people to Yahweh, by causing them to do Yahweh's commandments.
