Who the Sons of the Mighty Ones Are

Psalm 29: 1-2 reads, "29:1Ascribe to Yahweh, you sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.

29:2Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name.
Worship Yahweh in holy array."

It appears that the "sons of the mighty" in Psalm 29: 1 are angels or the hosts of Yahweh. For it is angels "who worship Yahweh in holy array", as Psalm 29: 2 shows.

Psalm 82: 1, 6-7 reads, "82:1The Mighty One presides in the great assembly.
He judges among the mighty ones.

82:6I said, 'You are mighty ones,
All of you are sons of HaElyon.

82:7Nevertheless you shall die like men,
And fall like one of the rulers.'"

The "great assembly" that Yahweh the Mighty One presides in, that Yahweh the Mighty One judges in, is that of angels, who are also called "mighty ones"! And Psalm 82: 6 calls "mighty ones" all the sons of HaElyon, all the sons of the Most High, all the sons of Yahweh the Mighty One. Seeing that Yahweh judges among the mighty ones, among angels, and all the sons of Yahweh are mighty ones, it is plausible that angels - mighty ones - are indeed sons of Yahweh the Mighty One, HaElyon. Also, seeing that Psalm 29: 1 calls them "sons of the mighty", it appears that angels are indeed sons of the Mighty One, or the Mighty One's sons.

Some Mighty Ones Will Die Like Men

Psalm 82: 7 is a prophecy that distinguishes the mighty ones from men. For they will indeed die LIKE men. That they will die LIKE men implies that they are not men!

Also, that they will DIE implies that they have not yet died, but have continued to exist from the time they were created! It therefore appears that some mighty ones, angels, will indeed be destroyed or die like men! It therefore appears that some mighty ones, angels, do not have eternal life, but will perish just like men perish!

Seeing that death came to man because of man's sin, and these mighty ones are to die like men, it appears that these mighty ones will likewise die because of their own sin! In other words, the sinning mighty ones, the profane mighty ones, will indeed be destroyed or killed and will not live forever! It should therefore be clear that profane angels will not live forever, but will have a cessation of their existence in destruction or death.

The Assembly of Holy Ones

Psalm 89: 5-8 reads, "89:5The heavens will praise your wonders, Yahweh;
Your faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.

89:6For who in the skies can be compared to Yahweh?
Who among the sons of the heavenly beings is like Yahweh,

89:7A very awesome Mighty One in the council of the holy ones,
To be feared above all those who are around him?

89:8Yahweh, Mighty One-Tzva'ot, who is a mighty one, like you?
Yah, your faithfulness is around you."

It should be clear that those of the assembly of the holy ones, the council of the holy ones, are those who are around Yahweh, who are also called angels. These angels are called "sons of the heavenly beings". They are also "mighty ones", even as Yahweh is the Mighty One to be feared above all these mighty ones. It should therefore be clear that the sons of the Mighty One are indeed angels.

The Sons of the Mighty One Present Themselves Before Yahweh

Iyov (Job) 1: 6-7 reads, "1:6Now it happened on the day when the sons of the Mighty One came to present themselves before Yahweh, that Hasatan also came among them. 1:7Yahweh said to Hasatan, 'Where have you come from?'

Then Hasatan answered Yahweh, and said, 'From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.'"

It should clearly be noted that the sons of the Mighty One are indeed angels, for it is angels who present themselves before Yahweh in heaven, for that is where Father Yahweh is.

It should also be noted that Hasatan came among these angels who were presenting themselves before Yahweh. This implies that Hasatan is ALSO a son of the Mighty One, for it was the day for the presentation of the sons of the Mighty One before Yahweh. Seeing that Hasatan is also a mighty one, and the heavenly holy ones, the holy angels, are called sons of the Mighty One, it appears that all angels, whether holy or profane, are both mighty ones and sons of the Mighty One!

Hasatan Dwells on Earth and Not in Heaven

It should also be noted that Hasatan's dwelling place is the EARTH, and NOT HEAVEN. For it was the earth that he had come from, and he had been roaming about on the earth doing his own things. It also appears that Hasatan, and other profane angels, still had access to heaven during the days of Iyov, even though they did not reside there, their habitation being the earth!

Hasatan's Work on Earth

Iyov 1: 8-22 reads, "1:8Yahweh said to Hasatan, 'Have you considered my servant, Iyov? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears the Mighty One, and turns away from evil.'

1:9Then Hasatan answered Yahweh, and said, 'Does Iyov fear the Mighty One for nothing? 1:10Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his house, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 1:11But put forth your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will renounce you to your face.'

1:12Yahweh said to Hasatan, 'Behold, all that he has is in your power. Only on himself don't put forth your hand.'

So Hasatan went forth from the presence of Yahweh. 1:13It fell on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house, 1:14that there came a messenger to Iyov, and said, 'The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys feeding beside them, 1:15and the Seva'im attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.'

1:16While he was still speaking, there also came another, and said, 'The fire of the Mighty One has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you.'

1:17While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, 'The Kasdim made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.'

1:18While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, 'Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house, 1:19and, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you.'

1:20Then Iyov arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshipped. 1:21He said, 'Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. Yahweh gave, and Yahweh has taken away. Blessed be the name of Yahweh.' 1:22In all this, Iyov did not sin, nor charge the Mighty One with wrongdoing."

The above account shows us what Hasatan, and other profane angels, do on the earth.

Hasatan Thinks That Yahweh's Servants Are Idolaters and Liars

Hasatan thinks that Yahweh's servants serve him only because he blesses them here on earth with various blessings. He therefore thinks that if Yahweh is to withdraw those blessings from his servants they will indeed stop serving him and renounce him. Hasatan therefore seeks permission from Yahweh to remove the blessings with which he showers his servants here on earth.

In other words, what Hasatan thinks is that Yahweh's servants do not really serve Yahweh, but serve the various blessings at Yahweh's hands. That Yahweh's servants do not really serve Yahweh, but serve the various acquisitions that Yahweh allows man to acquire. For if Yahweh's servants indeed serve wealth and other acquisitions, and realise that such wealth and acquisitions come only from Yahweh, they will indeed be prepared to serve Yahweh in order to acquire the wealth and acquisitions. Such that if Yahweh's servants could acquire the wealth and acquisitions without having to serve Yahweh, they would very gladly do so, and would renounce Yahweh.

In other words, Hasatan thinks that Yahweh's servants do not serve Yahweh per se, but serve the various acquisitions that Yahweh allows him to have! And therefore Yahweh's servants are idolaters, not really serving Yahweh, but serving the acquisitions Yahweh allows them to have.

Hasatan also charges Yahweh's servants with bearing false witness. For since they claim to serve Yahweh, and yet he alleges that they only do so to acquire and retain the various acquisitions that Yahweh allows them to have here on earth, thereby serving idols, they are indeed, to him, liars. In other words, Hasatan thinks that all of Yahweh's servants are like Hasatan, the father of lies. He thinks that no one can faithfully serve Yahweh, especially without the blessings of acquisitions here on earth.

Yahweh therefore allowed Hasatan to prove his theory, with the subject of his test being Iyov, Yahweh's servant.

Yahweh Allows Hasatan to Harm His Servants

It should also be noted that Yahweh did not deny that he blesses his servants with various acquisitions here on earth. For indeed he does. He also protects the blessings he gives to his servants, such that his servants continue to retain those blessings he has given them.

But seeing that Hasatan was hell-bent on testing his theory, Yahweh allowed him to test it. He therefore withdrew the protection he had accorded to the blessings he had given Iyov. Nevertheless he did not allow Hasatan to touch the person of Iyov. His protection on the person of Iyov would still continue.

Hasatan therefore took the opportunity that he had craved. He used other human beings to seize some of Iyov's property. Some of his property he destroyed. He used fire from the sky, human armies, and a great wind, to achieve his objective. He also killed Iyov's sons and daughters and Iyov's servants.

It should be noted that Hasatan has, when Yahweh allows him, power to bring down fire from the sky! Power to bring about great wind! Power to tamper with the weather systems! Power to raise armies of men! In other words, power to undertake various signs and wonders! But he can do these only when Yahweh allows him.

Hasatan's Desire

In this we see what Hasatan's desire is. It is to destroy Yahweh's servants. It is to destroy whatever blessings Yahweh has given to his servants. It is to cause them to stumble, to cause them to renounce Yahweh.

Yahweh is Greater Than Hasatan

We also see that Hasatan's power is LIMITED. For he CANNOT do what Yahweh has NOT ALLOWED him to do. He can do only what he has been allowed. Yahweh is therefore seen to be GREATER than Hasatan, and MORE POWERFUL than Hasatan. Even Hasatan, in his communication with Yahweh, acknowledges that Yahweh is indeed more powerful than he is. Even Hasatan, in presenting himself before Yahweh, together with other sons of Yahweh the Mighty One, acknowledges that Yahweh is indeed superior to him.

Iyov's Reaction to the Calamities that Befell Him

Iyov 1: 20 notes that Iyov shaved his head. It appears that he did this in mourning for his children.

Iyov, in the manner he responded to all these calamities that afflicted him in one day, showed that he was indeed a righteous man, more so than all men who lived on earth during the time that he lived.

Iyov's example also shows Yahweh's servants that they should indeed serve him faithfully and totally, irrespective of whether or not they have various blessings here on earth. In other words, Yahweh should be worshipped first and foremost, and not the various blessings he allows us to posses here on earth. Iyov therefore showed that he was not an idolater, worshipping the blessings Yahweh gave to him. He worshipped Yahweh, irrespective of whether or not Yahweh allowed him to have various acquisitions here on earth.

Hasatan Again Presents Himself Before Yahweh

Iyov 2: 1-10 reads, "2:1Again it happened on the day when the sons of the Mighty One came to present themselves before Yahweh, that Hasatan came also among them to present himself before Yahweh. 2:2Yahweh said to Hasatan, 'Where have you come from?'

Hasatan answered Yahweh, and said, 'From going back and forth in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.'

2:3Yahweh said to Hasatan, 'Have you considered my servant Iyov? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears the Mighty One, and turns away from evil. He still maintains his integrity, although you incited me against him, to ruin him without cause.'

2:4Hasatan answered Yahweh, and said, 'Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has will he give for his life. 2:5But put forth your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will renounce you to your face.'

2:6Yahweh said to Hasatan, 'Behold, he is in your hand. Only spare his life.'

2:7So Hasatan went forth from the presence of Yahweh, and struck Iyov with painful sores from the sole of his foot to his head. 2:8He took for himself a potsherd to scrape himself with, and he sat among the ashes. 2:9Then his wife said to him, 'Do you still maintain your integrity? Renounce the Mighty One, and die.'

2:10But he said to her, 'You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of the Mighty One, and shall we not receive evil?'

In all this Iyov didn't sin with his lips."

Hasatan is Also a Son of the Mighty One

Iyov 2: 1 notes clearly that Hasatan also went in among the sons of the Mighty One, to present himself before Yahweh the Mighty One. It should therefore be clear that Hasatan is also a son of the Mighty One. It should also be clear that profane angels are also sons of the Mighty One. And it should be clear that angels, both holy and profane, present themselves to Yahweh the Mighty One at appointed times.

Hasatan is the Enemy of Yahweh and Yahweh's Servants

It should be noted from Iyov 2: 2 that Hasatan's roaming of the earth involves doing harm to Yahweh's servants, in order to cause them to stumble and renounce Yahweh. Hasatan is therefore Yahweh's enemy, and the enemy of Yahweh's servants. His job is to create enmity between Yahweh and Yahweh's servants, that Yahweh's servants may stumble.

Hasatan Charges Yahweh's Servants With Worshipping Their Own Lives

Iyov 2: 4 shows that Hasatan thinks that those men who do not worship property or other acquisitions indeed worship themselves, and their own physical lives. Such that should their lives be at risk, and the only manner for saving their lives is renouncing Yahweh, they will indeed renounce Yahweh. And should they realise that even though they are worshipping Yahweh they are still not blessed with good health, suffering ill health and pain, they will renounce Yahweh, seeing that Yahweh is not blessing them with anything they can think of. In fact, according to Hasatan, such men would rather die and end their ill health and pain, rather than worship Yahweh when they are in ill health and pain.

Hasatan therefore alleges those men who do not worship external idols to still be idol worshippers, worshipping themselves, and their lives, and their good health.

Iyov's Wife Was Not Serving Yahweh

Iyov 2: 9 shows that Iyov's wife was NOT serving Yahweh in her comments to Iyov. For her comments were indeed SATANIC! For her comments showed the reasoning Hasatan had in inducing Yahweh to allow him to strike Iyov.

Iyov responded by describing his wife's comments as FOOLISH! In other words, satanic thinking is foolish thinking! For it causes one to stumble and renounce Yahweh! Iyov also showed, in his dealings with his wife, that it was he who ruled over his wife, and not his wife who ruled over him. For when his wife urged him to violate Yahweh's laws and commands, Iyov rebuked her. Iyov was therefore head of his own household, and was not subservient to his wife.

Iyov Faithfully Served Yahweh

Iyov, in his righteousness, proved Hasatan wrong! There are indeed servants of Yahweh who serve him irrespective of whether they have blessings here on earth. There are indeed servants of Yahweh who serve him irrespective of their lives, irrespective of whether or not their lives are at risk.

Iyov's example is one other servants of Yahweh should follow. Servants of Yahweh should serve him faithfully, without serving another, whether the other is mammon, or their own selves. Service to Yahweh is to Yahweh and to Yahweh alone!

The Sons of the Mighty One Witnessed the Earth's Creation

Iyov 38: 1-7 reads, "38:1Then Yahweh answered Iyov out of the whirlwind,

38:2'Who is this who darkens counsel
By words without knowledge?

38:3Brace yourself like a man,
For I will question you, then you answer me!

38:4Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Declare, if you have understanding.

38:5Who determined the measures of it, if you know?
Or who stretched the line on it?

38:6Whereupon were the foundations of it fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,

38:7When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of the Mighty One shouted for joy?'"

Yahweh here shows that when he laid the foundations of the earth the morning stars and all the sons of the Mighty One were already in existence! Yet, from Beresheet 1 we see that man did not come into existence until the sixth day of the earth's existence. The sons of the Mighty One therefore preceded man. The sons of the Mighty One are therefore clearly not human beings. They are indeed angels, as already seen above.

Profane Angels Forcibly Took Men's Daughters As Their Wives

Going back to the account in Beresheet 6, when the sons of the Mighty One who were on earth forcibly took men's daughters as their wives, it is clearly seen that these sons of the Mighty One were indeed profane angels! Yes - profane angels forcibly took women as their wives. And these women whom they forcibly took as their wives bore them children, known as the Nefilim, the mighty men of old, men of renown!

It should therefore be noted that women can indeed bear the seed not just of men, but also of mighty ones! For these women in the days of Noach, and also afterward, did indeed bear the seed of profane angels, who forcibly took them as their wives. For the women bore these profane angels children known as the Nefilim.

It should also be noted that HaElyon the Mighty One, Yahweh-Tzvaot, also put his own seed in a virgin woman, Miryam, who bore him Yah'shuah the Messiah! It is therefore proven that women can indeed carry the seed of mighty ones, and have done so in the past!

It should also be remembered that Yahweh made humans after the IMAGE and LIKENESS of mighty ones, for Beresheet 1: 26 clearly says so. Since humans are in the image and likeness of mighty ones, it should not seem too difficult a thing for women to bear the seed of other mighty ones, even if these mighty ones are not humans!

Yahweh Allowed Profane Angels to Forcibly Take Women as Their Wives

Also, seeing that when the sons of the Mighty One appear before him to present themselves they make requests of him concerning what they desire to do, and some of their requests are granted, it appears that this is indeed what happened in the days of Noach. It appears that the sons of the Mighty One asked Yahweh whether they could take men's daughters as their wives, and have men's daughters bear children to them. And it appears that Yahweh allowed it, for the sons of the Mighty One can indeed do nothing that Yahweh has not allowed.

The Nefilim Were Wicked

The Nefilim who were born before the flood in Noach's days died in the flood. The Nefilim who were born after the flood either died natural deaths, or were destroyed by Yahweh, such as those Yahweh destroyed from the land of promise, when he was giving Yisrael inheritance of that land, and those Yahweh destroyed in other lands he gave to other peoples to inherit.

It is also noted that the progeny of the seed of profane angels was NOT GOOD. For the Nefilim were WICKED, just as their ancestors, the profane angels. Because of their wickedness Yahweh destroyed them, both in the flood, and after the flood, both before Yisrael, and before other nations!

The Nefilim Destroyed At Yisrael's Hand

Yah'shuah (Joshua) 11: 21-22 reads, "11:21Yah'shuah came at that time, and cut off the `Anakim from the hill-country, from Chevron, from Devir, from `Anav, and from all the hill-country of Yahudah, and from all the hill-country of Yisra'el. Yah'shuah utterly destroyed them with their cities. 11:22There was none of the `Anakim left in the land of the children of Yisra'el. Only in `Aza, in Gat, and in Ashdod, did some remain."

Yah'shuah 14: 6-15 reads, "14:6Then the children of Yahudah drew near to Yah'shuah in Gilgal. And Kalev the son of Yefunneh the Kenizzi said to him, 'You know the thing that Yahweh spoke to Moshe the man of the Mighty One concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh-Barnea. 14:7Forty years old was I when Moshe the servant of Yahweh sent me from Kadesh-Barnea to spy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in my heart. 14:8Nevertheless my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed Yahweh my Mighty One. 14:9Moshe swore on that day, saying, "Surely the land whereon your foot has trodden shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed Yahweh my Mighty One." 14:10Now, behold, Yahweh has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that Yahweh spoke this word to Moshe, while Yisra'el walked in the wilderness. And now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. 14:11As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moshe sent me. As my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, and to go out and to come in. 14:12Now therefore give me this hill-country, whereof Yahweh spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the `Anakim were there, and cities great and fortified. It may be that Yahweh will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as Yahweh spoke.' 14:13Yah'shuah blessed him; and he gave Chevron to Kalev the son of Yefunneh for an inheritance. 14:14Therefore Chevron became the inheritance of Kalev the son of Yefunneh the Kenizzi to this day; because that he wholly followed Yahweh, the Mighty One of Yisra'el. 14:15Now the name of Chevron before was Kiryat-Arba; which Arba was the greatest man among the `Anakim. The land had rest from war."

Yah'shuah 15: 13-14 reads, "15:13To Kalev the son of Yefunneh he gave a portion among the children of Yahudah, according to the commandment of Yahweh to Yah'shuah, even Kiryat-Arba, which Arba was the father of `Anak (the same is Chevron). 15:14Kalev drove out there the three sons of `Anak: Sheshai, and Achiman, and Talmai, the children of `Anak."

Yah'shuah 21: 8-12 reads, " 21:8The children of Yisra'el gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as Yahweh commanded by Moshe. 21:9They gave out of the tribe of the children of Yahudah, and out of the tribe of the children of Shim`on, these cities which are here mentioned by name. 21:10And they were for the children of Aharon, of the families of the Kehati, who were of the children of Levi; for theirs was the first lot. 21:11They gave them Kiryat-Arba, which Arba was the father of `Anak (the same is Chevron), in the hill-country of Yahudah, with the suburbs of it round about it. 21:12But the fields of the city, and the villages of it, gave they to Kalev the son of Yefunneh for his possession."

Shofetim (Judges) 1: 19-20 reads, "1:19Yahweh was with Yahudah; and drove out the inhabitants of the hill-country; for he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. 1:20They gave Chevron to Kalev, as Moshe had spoken: and he drove out there the three sons of `Anak."

1 Divre Hayamim 20: 4-7 reads, "20:4It happened after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Pelishtim. Then Sibbekhai the Chushatite killed Sippai, of the sons of the Rafa; and they were subdued. 20:5There was again war with the Pelishtim; and Elchanan the son of Ya'ir killed Lachmi the brother of Golyat the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. 20:6There was again war at Gat, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were twenty-four, six on each hand, and six on each foot; and he also was born to the Rafa. 20:7When he defied Yisra'el, Yonatan the son of Shim`a David's brother killed him. 20:8These were born to the Rafa in Gat; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants."
