The Work of the Eliyah to
Come Will Be One of Righteousness
It therefore appears that the work of the Eliyah to come will be one of righteousness. For it will avert a curse coming upon the earth. It therefore appears that sufficient people that Eliyah will preach to will indeed walk in the way of righteousness, just as Noach walked in the way of righteousness during his time. And just as in the time of Noach so it will be in the time of the Eliyah to come. The earth will be full of evil and corruption. But, in respite, there will indeed be a sufficient number of people who will repent of their evil and turn to Yahweh the Mighty One wholeheartedly, doing everything he says. These people will serve Yahweh in the manner Iyov served Yahweh, wholeheartedly, not allowing any idol to come between them and Yahweh. The prophet to come in the spirit and power of Eliyah before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes will indeed succeed in his mission!
Eliyah Will Preach
Acceptable Marriage Before Yahweh
Also, seeing that in the time of Noach "men's daughters" were forcibly taken as wives, without being freely given as wives, it appears plausible that women will indeed be taken as wives without being freely given in the time of the prophesied Eliyah. Eliyah will therefore preach that women be properly given in marriage by those so capable of giving them in marriage, meaning their fathers. Eliyah will therefore preach that women indeed be submissive not just to their husbands, once they are given in marriage, but also to their fathers, before they are given marriage. Eliyah will also preach that men restrain themselves from forcibly taking wives prior to those wives being given to them in marriage. In other words, Eliyah will preach good family order and the respect for good family order by all human beings.
Eliyah to Prepare the Way
Before the Messiah Returns
Malakhi 3: 1 - 4: 6 reads, "3:1Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me. And the Sovereign, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, behold, he comes, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot. 3:2But who can abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's soap: 3:3and he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi, and refine them as gold and silver; and they shall offer to Yahweh offerings in righteousness. 3:4Then shall the offering of Yahudah and Yerushalayim be pleasant to Yahweh, as in the days of old, and as in ancient years. 3:5I will come near to you to judgment. And I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the perjurers, and against those who oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and who turn aside the sojourner from his right, and don't fear me, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot. 3:6For I, Yahweh, don't change; therefore you, sons of Ya`akov, are not consumed. 3:7From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my ordinances, and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot. But you say, 'Wherein shall we return?' 3:8Will a man rob the Mighty One? Yet you rob me. But you say, 'Wherein have we robbed you?' In tithes and offerings. 3:9You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation. 3:10Bring the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot, if I will not open you the windows of Heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 3:11I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot. 3:12All nations shall call you happy; for you shall be a delightful land, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot.
3:13Your words have been stout against me, says Yahweh. Yet you say, 'What have we spoken against you?' 3:14You have said, 'It is vain to serve the Mighty One; and what profit is it that we have kept his charge, and that we have walked mournfully before Yahweh-Tzva'ot? 3:15Now we call the proud happy; yes, those who work wickedness are built up; yes, they tempt the Mighty One, and escape.' 3:16Then those who feared Yahweh spoke one with another; and Yahweh listened, and heard, and a book of memory was written before him, for those who feared Yahweh, and that thought on his name. 3:17They shall be mine, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot, even my own possession, in the day that I act; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him. 3:18Then shall you return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves the Mighty One and him who doesn't serve him.
4:1For, behold, the day comes, it burns as a furnace; and all the proud, and all who work wickedness, shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 4:2But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings; and you shall go forth, and gambol as calves of the stall. 4:3You shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I act, says Yahweh-Tzva'ot. 4:4Remember you the law of Moshe my servant, which I commanded to him in Chorev for all Yisra'el, even statutes and ordinances. 4:5Behold, I will send you Eliyah the prophet before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes. 4:6He shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; lest I come and strike the earth with a curse."
Yahchanan came in the spirit and power of Eliyah, and fulfilled the above prophecy concerning the prophesied Eliyah. Yah'shuah, the messenger of the covenant, also came and fulfilled the above prophecy concerning him.
But there was to be more than one coming of the messenger of the covenant! For Yah'shuah is indeed to return to earth, coming in the power and glory of the kingdom of the Mighty One. Seeing that the messenger of the covenant is to come again, is there to be another Eliyah, another person sent in the last days in the spirit and power of Eliyah?
In the days of the original Eliyah the people of Yahweh, Yisrael, had forsaken Yahweh and his ways, turning after abominations such as the Baalim and the Asherahs. Walking in the way of falsehoods, injustice and wickedness. They had forsaken Yahweh's law and covenant. Yahweh therefore sent them his prophet Eliyah, who undertook the works Yahweh gave him in their sight. The people turned back to Yahweh their Mighty One, and killed the prophets of Baal.
In the days of Yahchanan, who was sent by Yahweh in the spirit and power of Eliyah, the people had again forsaken Yahweh and his ways, teaching as the fear of Yahweh the commandments of men. They also walked in the way of falsehoods, injustice and wickedness. Yahchanan preached truth, justice and righteousness to them, preaching to them the good news of repentance from sin, and the remission of sin, made possible by the tender mercy in the Messiah whom he preached was coming after him. Many of the multitudes repented and walked in the righteousness Yahchanan preached, which was the law and covenant of Yahweh.
In the last days, in the days just before Yah'shuah returns in power and glory, Yahweh has shown us that his people will have forsaken him, turning after various abominations, including idols and demons. They will also commit various iniquities, including violating his covenant and his law, and doing injustice. If they continue to so live Yahweh will indeed strike the land where they dwell with a curse, for that has always been his nature. For he does not change, even as he says in Malakhi 3: 6. It therefore appears that to avert his striking with a curse the land(s) of their dwelling he must indeed send a prophet in the spirit and power of Eliyah to turn the people to himself, that they may be his people, and that he may be their Mighty One.
The Work of the Eliyah to
Come
The Eliyah to come, the prophet sent in the spirit and power of Eliyah before Yah'shuah's second coming, must therefore turn the hearts of the people back to Yahweh the Mighty One. By so doing he will turn Yahweh's heart back to them, to do them good, and not harm, such as by his just judgements against those who commit iniquity against him. The Eliyah to come must preach truth, justice, righteousness and mercy. The Eliyah to come must undertake his works at Yahweh's word, doing the various works he undertakes at Yahweh's commandment. The Eliyah to come will refrain from doing his works on the authority of his own thoughts. The Eliyah to come will preach Yahweh's covenant and law, even as shown by Malakhi 4: 4, remembering even the statutes and ordinances. He will preach that Yahweh's law has not passed away, upholding the words of Yah'shuah in Mattityahu 5: 17-18. As the other Eliyahs who will have walked before Yahweh in prior times, he will preach Yahweh's message strongly and with authority, and not teach the people smooth things, the desires of their hearing after their rebellious hearts. For he will do his works at Yahweh's command, and not on the authority of his own thoughts.
And many people will turn from iniquity to righteousness at the teaching of Eliyah once he comes. Not everybody will turn to righteousness. For even in the days of those who came in times past in the spirit and power of Eliyah, not everyone turned their hearts to Yahweh. Some remained in the way of iniquity. Nevertheless many will turn from the way of iniquity to the way of righteousness at the preaching of the Eliyah to come. For they will do Yahweh's commandments, and not the commandments of men. And they will be taught true knowledge, understanding and wisdom of Yahweh's ways, and not the commandments of men as the fear of Yahweh.
Noting also that none of the words of Yahweh that he spoke by the Eliyahs of times past fell to ground, the words of Yahweh spoken by the Eliyah to come will also not fall to the ground. For he will speak Yahweh's words, and not the thoughts of his own head. Yahweh will therefore fulfil his words, and that is why they will not fall to the ground.
