SUMMATION OF THE WORKINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Obey The Spirit Rather Than Human Beings

The above exposition has shown that the Holy Spirit works in various ways in the lives of Yahweh's servants. It has also shown that where the command of the Spirit conflicts with human commands, it is the Spirit's word that Yah'shuah's servants are to heed, irrespective of whatever consequences human beings may levy against them for not heeding their word. The examples of Yah'shuah and Stephen show that even when faced with death a servant of Yah'shuah should remain steadfast to the word of the Spirit.

Even In The Assembly Of Yah'shuah And Yahweh Obey The Spirit Rather Than Human Beings

In the context of the assembly of Yah'shuah and Yahweh it was noted that there have been occasions when the command of the Spirit has appeared to be at variance with the commonly accepted position of the majority of those in the assembly. A case in point occurred when Kefa was commanded by the Spirit to accompany some uncircumcised people of the Goyim, despite the law of the Yahudim that prohibited a Yahudi from associating with an uncircumcised person, and from eating with an uncircumcised person. For Kefa was taught that the Mighty One does not show favouritism, but that he accepts all human beings in any nation who fear him and work righteousness. Also, by the Mighty One having given the Goyim the gift of his Holy Spirit, even as he had done the same to the Yahudim, demonstrably proved that he shows no favouritism.

Later on, as a result of the Spirit revealing that bonds and afflictions awaited Shaul at Yerushalayim, including his being handed over to the Goyim, the disciples strongly advised Shaul not to go to Yerushalayim. They thought that by so advising Shaul they would preserve him from these afflictions that had been foretold by the Spirit. Nevertheless, Shaul did not listen to these counsels he received from his fellow brothers. He remained steadfast to the will of the Mighty One as delivered by the Spirit. Thereby showing that even in cases when the predominant view of the disciples of Yah'shuah is to pursue a particular course of action, a course of action not in harmony with what the Spirit has revealed, one should not go along with that predominant view. Instead, one should remain faithful to the guidance of the Spirit, for the guidance of the Spirit, however painful, is the one that comes from the Father! And seeing that we are primarily Yahweh's and Yah'shuah's servants, and not primarily servants of Yah'shuah disciples, it is Yahweh's word that we must heed when there is a conflict of words between Yahweh's guidance by his Spirit and the guidance of Yah'shuah's disciples, whatever the status of these disciples of Yah'shuah.

The Spirit Does Not Contradict Himself

It should also be noted that the Spirit does not contradict himself. The word he gives us now does not conflict with the word he gave other servants of Yahweh in times past, especially as recorded in the Scriptures. Therefore, when Kefa received word in a vision to kill and eat unclean four-footed animals, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky, he refused to heed that word. For that word was not in harmony with the Scriptural word as spoken by the Spirit in former times. Learning from this, if we receive word in a vision, or in a dream, or that appears to come from the Spirit, and yet the received word is not in harmony with the clear words spoken by the Spirit, especially as recorded in the Scripture, we should NOT act on that word. Instead, like Kefa, we should consider the word that we have received, and ascertain the meaning that the Spirit intended for us to learn from the word.

With these basic guidelines we might now be better placed to ascertain whether the Spirit inspired all of Shaul's words in his epistles in the New Testament.
