Watch Out For False Servants Of Yahweh

Mark 13:19-27 reads,

13:19For in those days there will be oppression, such as there has not been the like from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will be. 13:20Unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but for the elect’s sake, whom he chose, he shortened the days. 13:21Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘Look, there!’ don’t believe it. 13:22For there will arise false christs and false prophets, and will show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, also the elect. 13:23But you watch.

"Behold, I have told you all things beforehand. 13:24But in those days, after that oppression, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give her light, 13:25the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. 13:26Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 13:27Then he will send out his angels, and will gather together his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky.

It Is Possible For Yah'shuah's Disciples To Be Led Astray

It should be noted that it is possible for Yah'shuah's disciples to be led astray. That is why Yah'shuah warned them to be on their guard, that they may not be led astray.

It should also be remembered that Yah'shuah's disciples are just as human as other humans are. And just as human beings tend to believe the voice spoken by signs and wonders, so also Yah'shuah's disciples are likely to believe the voice spoken by signs and wonders. Nevertheless, Yah'shuah has taught his disciples that signs and wonders are not a definitive way of ascertaining the truth of a matter. They must therefore not rely on signs and wonders to determine the veracity of a matter, but should rely on Yah'shuah's word, which is the word that his Father Yahweh gave him to speak. In other words, as Jehoshaphat said in 2 Chronicles 20:20,

believe in Yahweh your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

Yah'shuah's Disciples Initially Disbelieved His Resurrection

Mark 16:9-18 reads,

16:9Now when he had risen, early on the first day of the week he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. 16:10She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept. 16:11When they heard that he was alive, and had been seen by her, they disbelieved. 16:12After these things he was revealed in another form to two of them, as they walked, on their way into the country. 16:13They went away and told it to the rest. They didn’t believe them, either.

16:14Afterward he was revealed to the eleven themselves as they sat at the table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they didn’t believe those who had seen him after he had risen. 16:15He said to them, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. 16:16He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned. 16:17These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new languages; 16:18they will take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

Why Yah'shuah Rebuked His Disciples For Their Unbelief

Why did Yah'shuah rebuke his disciples for not believing the witnesses who had seen him alive after he had been raised from the dead? Wasn't it prudent for them not to be simple, believing every single thing that anyone says to them, even as Proverbs 14:15 cautions?

Proverbs 14:15 reads,

14:15The simple believes everything,
But the prudent man carefully considers his ways.

The disciples should therefore have carefully considered their ways in this matter of whether or not they should have believed the witnesses who reported seeing Yah'shuah after his resurrection. And by carefully considering the matter they should have remembered Jehoshaphat's words in 2 Chronicles 20:20,

believe in Yahweh your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

For had they believed Yahweh's prophet, Yah'shuah himself, before he died, they would indeed have believed the fact of his resurrection. For Mark 8:29-33 reads,

8:29He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"

Peter answered, "You are the Christ."

8:30He charged them that they should tell no one about him. 8:31He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. 8:32He spoke to them openly. Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. 8:33But he, turning around, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and said, "Get behind me, Satan! For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of men."

Mark 9:9-10 reads,

9:9As they were coming down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no one what things they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen again from the dead. 9:10They kept the saying, questioning among themselves what the rising again from the dead should mean.

Mark 9:31-32 reads,

9:31For he taught his disciples, and said to them, "The Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day he will rise again."

9:32But they didn’t understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.

Mark 10:32-34 reads,

10:32They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going in front of them, and they were amazed; and those who followed were afraid. He again took the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were going to happen to him. 10:33"Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles. 10:34They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again."

Yah'shuah's Disciples Did Not Understand His Clear Prophecies To Them Of His Death And Resurrection

It is evident from the above citations that even on the occasions that Yah'shuah plainly told his disciples that he would be killed and rise up from the dead after three days they did not understand him. It is therefore presumed that their failure to understand him led to their unbelief and hardness of heart.

Yah'shuah's Disciples Were Fearful Of Asking Him For Requisite Understanding

It is also noted in 9:32 that even though they did not understand his clear speech they were afraid of asking him for the requisite understanding. And this failure to ask him for that requisite understanding, thereby causing them to remain without understanding, led to their unbelief and hardness of heart, not believing the very words of Yahweh spoken by his Son Yah'shuah.

Seek Yah'shuah For Understanding Of His Word

Learning from Yah'shuah's disciples it appears that whenever we do not understand an aspect of Yahweh's word we should seek him for understanding of that word. For it may just be the case that the word that we do not understand may eventually turn out to be our undoing, causing us not to believe what we should, even the very words of Yahweh clearly spoken to us.

Unrighteousness Deserves Rebuke

And seeing that unbelief of Yahweh's words is unrighteousness, such unbelief truly deserves to be rebuked, even as Yah'shuah rebuked his disciples for their unbelief of his clear words spoken to them prior to this death and resurrection.

Why Yah'shuah's Disciples Did Not Understand His Clear Speech

8:33 also explains why Yah'shuah's disciples did not understand his clear speech. For Yah'shuah, in rebuking Peter, did not address Peter but addressed Satan. In other words, when Peter did not understand Yah'shuah's clear speech and was minded to oppose it, he was doing so under Satan's influence. It should therefore be clear that Satan has power to influence Yah'shuah's disciples not to believe or understand his clear words. And when people do not believe or understand Yah'shuah's clear words it is as a result of Satan influencing those people not to so believe or understand those words.

Satan Must Be Restrained To Facilitate Understanding Of Yahweh's Words

For people to understand Yahweh and Yah'shuah's words the opponent to such understanding must be restrained. Satan must therefore be put in a position whereby he does not adversely influence people from understanding and believing Yahweh and Yah'shuah's words. We therefore need to pray with belief to Yahweh, who is the Almighty, to restrain Satan that he may not prevent us from understanding and believing Yahweh's words. For believing and understanding Yahweh's words is righteousness, and not so believing or understanding his words is unrighteousness.

Believe The Gospel Of The Kingdom Of The Almighty

16:16 shows that all in the world should believe the gospel of the kingdom of the Almighty and should be baptised when they so believe. But those who do not believe Yahweh's words as encapsulated in his gospel will indeed be condemned, for not believing Yahweh's words. For belief of Yahweh's words is righteousness, leading to salvation, whilst unbelief of Yahweh's words is unrighteousness, leading to condemnation.

Zacharias' Unbelief Of Gabriel's Words

Luke 1:5-25 reads,

1:5There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the priestly division of Abijah. He had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 1:6They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord. 1:7But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years. 1:8Now it happened, while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his division, 1:9according to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. 1:10The whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.

1:11An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 1:12Zacharias was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell on him. 1:13But the angel said to him, "Don’t be afraid, Zacharias, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 1:14You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth. 1:15For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 1:16He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God. 1:17He will go before his face in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

1:18Zacharias said to the angel, "How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years."

1:19The angel answered him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news. 1:20Behold, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you didn’t believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time."

1:21The people were waiting for Zacharias, and they marveled while he delayed in the temple. 1:22When he came out, he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute. 1:23It happened, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed to his house. 1:24After these days Elizabeth, his wife, conceived, and she hid herself five months, saying, 1:25"Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my reproach among men."

Zacharias Punished For His Unbelief Of Yahweh's Words

Because of Zacharias' unbelief, he was punished by being made mute for a period of time. In other words, when we do not believe Yahweh's words, Yahweh punishes us appropriately. For in like manner he punished the children of Israel when they did not believe in him in the wilderness, after the spies brought the report on the land flowing with milk and honey. And in like manner he punished Moses and Aaron for not sanctifying Yahweh before the children of Israel, and in that lack of sanctifying Yahweh manifesting disbelief in Yahweh.

Why Zacharias Did Not Believe Yahweh's Words

Why didn't Zacharias believe Yahweh's words through his angel Gabriel?

1:18 shows that Zacharias believed the voice of the sign that he saw, that of his old age and that of his wife Elizabeth.

Signs Are Not Definitive In The Determination Of A Matter

Again we are reminded that signs and the voice of signs are NOT definitive in the determination of a matter. It is Yahweh's word that is definitive. For had Zacharias carefully considered what the angel Gabriel had told him, he would have remembered that Abraham and Sarah were very old, probably much older that Zacharias and Elizabeth, when Yahweh gave them a son, Isaac. He therefore should have believed angel Gabriel's word, and it would have been deemed righteousness on his part. Nevertheless, he failed to live up to Proverbs 14:15, the guidance to carefully consider a matter.

Remember Yahweh's Words By Jehoshaphat

We should therefore always remember Yahweh's words by his servant Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:20,

believe in Yahweh your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

Yahweh's words, either directly spoken to us or spoken through his servants, whether human or angelic servants, must be believed, to facilitate our establishment and prosperity. Yahweh's words supersede the voice of any contrary sign, even those that appear true in circumstances excluding Yahweh's intervention.

Mary Believed Yahweh's Words Spoken To Her

Luke 1:26-45 reads,

1:26Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 1:27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 1:28Having come in to her, the angel said, "Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!"

1:29But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be. 1:30The angel said to her, "Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 1:31Behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name ‘Jesus.’ 1:32He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give to him the throne of his father, David, 1:33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end of his kingdom."

1:34Mary said to the angel, "How will this be, seeing I am a virgin?"

1:35The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God. 1:36Behold, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 1:37For no word from God will be void of power."

1:38Mary said, "Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word."

The angel departed from her. 1:39Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah, 1:40and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. 1:41It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 1:42She called out with a loud voice, and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 1:43Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 1:44For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy! 1:45Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!"

Those Who Believe Yahweh Receive A Blessing

1:45 notes that for the good words of Yahweh spoken to us to be fulfilled we must indeed BELIEVE that they will be fulfilled. And for so believing we receive a blessing.

Whatever Yahweh Speaks Comes To Pass

1:37 notes that no word of Yahweh is void of power. In other words, whatever word Yahweh speaks it comes to pass. For no one can deliver out of Yahweh's hand, and no one can hinder a work of Yahweh, even as Isaiah 43:13 reads,

43:13Yes, since the day was I am he; and there is none who can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who can hinder it?

Causes Of Unbelief

Luke 8:4-15 reads,

8:4When a great multitude came together, and people from every city were coming to him, he spoke by a parable. 8:5"The farmer went out to sow his seed. As he sowed, some fell by the road, and it was trampled under foot, and the birds of the sky devoured it. 8:6Other seed fell on the rock, and as soon as it grew, it withered away, because it had no moisture. 8:7Other fell amid the thorns, and the thorns grew with it, and choked it. 8:8Other fell into the good ground, and grew, and brought forth fruit one hundred times." As he said these things, he called out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"

8:9Then his disciples asked him, "What does this parable mean?"

8:10He said, "To you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest in parables; that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ 8:11Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 8:12Those by the road are those who hear, then the devil comes, and takes away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. 8:13Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root, who believe for a while, and fall away in time of temptation. 8:14That which fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 8:15That in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it tightly, and bring forth fruit with patience.

The Devil Is An Opponent Of Belief And Salvation

8:11-12 shows that believing the Almighty's word facilitates the salvation of the person who so believes. It also shows that it is the devil who takes away the Almighty's word from people's hearts, causing them to be hard-hearted and unbelieving. It should therefore be clear that the devil is an opponent of belief and salvation.

To Be Saved One Must Remain In Belief In Yah'shuah

8:13 shows that it is NOT ENOUGH for one to believe only for a period of time. For one to be saved that one must continue to remain in a state of belief, and must not fall away from belief in Yah'shuah. That one must therefore have sufficient root or perseverance in oneself in order to survive the lengthy journey of belief, despite the obstacles that come one's way, as thrown or placed there by the enemy of salvation - the devil.

Yah'shuah's Apostles Initially Disbelieved His Resurrection

Luke 24:1-12 reads,

24:1But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they and some others came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared. 24:2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. 24:3They entered in, and didn’t find the Lord Jesus’ body. 24:4It happened, while they were greatly perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling clothing. 24:5Becoming terrified, they bowed their faces down to the earth.

They said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? 24:6He isn’t here, but is risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee, 24:7saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again?"

24:8They remembered his words, 24:9returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest. 24:10Now they were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James. The other women with them told these things to the apostles. 24:11These words seemed to them to be nonsense, and they didn’t believe them. 24:12But Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Stooping and looking in, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he departed to his home, wondering what had happened.

How Yah'shuah's Disciples Believed His Resurrection

Luke 24:13-49 reads,

24:13Behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus, which was sixty stadia from Jerusalem. 24:14They talked with each other about all of these things which had happened. 24:15It happened, while they talked and questioned together, that Jesus himself came near, and went with them. 24:16But their eyes were kept from recognizing him. 24:17He said to them, "What are you talking about as you walk, and are sad?"

24:18One of them, named Cleopas, answered him, "Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who doesn’t know the things which have happened there in these days?"

24:19He said to them, "What things?"

They said to him, "The things concerning Jesus, the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people; 24:20and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 24:21But we were hoping that it was he who would redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. 24:22Also, certain women of our company amazed us, having arrived early at the tomb; 24:23and when they didn’t find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24:24Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just like the women had said, but they didn’t see him."

24:25He said to them, "Foolish men, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 24:26Didn’t the Christ have to suffer these things, and to enter into his glory?" 24:27Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. 24:28They drew near to the village, where they were going, and he acted like he would go further.

24:29They urged him, saying, "Stay with us, for it is almost evening, and the day is almost over."

He went in to stay with them. 24:30It happened, when he had sat down at the table with them, he took the bread and gave thanks. Breaking it, he gave to them. 24:31Their eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he vanished out of their sight. 24:32They said one to another, "Weren’t our hearts burning within us, while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?" 24:33They rose up that very hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them, 24:34saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!" 24:35They related the things that happened along the way, and how he was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.

24:36As they said these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace be to you."

24:37But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they saw a spirit.

24:38He said to them, "Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts? 24:39See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have." 24:40When he had said this, he shown them his hands and his feet. 24:41While they still didn’t believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"

24:42They gave him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 24:43He took it, and ate in front of them. 24:44He said to them, "This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled."

24:45Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures. 24:46He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 24:47and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 24:48You are witnesses of these things. 24:49Behold, I send forth the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high."

It Is Folly To Be Slow Of Heart To Believe Yah'shuah's Words

24:25 shows that those who are slow of heart to believe Yahweh's words, as spoken by his servants the prophets, are foolish. We should believe Yahweh's words, including all his words in the Scriptures as recorded by his prophets.

Doubting Hearts Need To See Physical Evidence Before Believing

24:38-43 shows the risen Yah'shuah physically demonstrating to his disciples the fact of his resurrection from the dead. For he showed them his hands and feet, and ate a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb. In other words, those whose hearts doubt need to be given physical evidence before they believe the truth.

Yah'shuah's Resurrection Should Be Believed Without Seeing Its Physical Evidence

Nevertheless, they should have believed Yahweh's words, contained in the Scriptures, and also spoken to them by Yah'shuah before his death, without necessarily having to see the physical evidence of Yah'shuah's resurrection. For the voice of signs and wonders is not as strong as Yahweh's own word. For signs and wonders are not definitive in the determination of a matter, seeing that there also exist phoney signs and wonders, whose voices mislead those who listen to them. Therefore, the only voice that one should really listen to is that of Yahweh and his words. The voice of signs and wonders should be listened to only to the degree that it is in harmony with Yahweh's word.

Therefore, even in the case of Yah'shuah's resurrection, seeing that Yahweh had spoken about it in his word through his prophets, recorded in the Scriptures, his disciples should have believed that word without necessarily having seen the physical evidence of Yah'shuah's resurrection. Again Yahweh's words through his servant Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:20 are repeated,

believe in Yahweh your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

Those Who Receive And Believe In Yah'shuah Are Born Of Yahweh

John 1:6-13 reads,

1:6There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John. 1:7The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him. 1:8He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light. 1:9The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

1:10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him. 1:11He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him. 1:12But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name: 1:13who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John was sent to testify about Yah'shuah, that all might believe through Yah'shuah.

Those who receive Yah'shuah and believe in Yah'shuah's name are granted the right to become Yahweh's children, being born of Yahweh.

Yah'shuah's Disciples Believed In Him After Seeing His Signs

John 2:1-11 reads,

2:1The third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. 2:2Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the marriage. 2:3When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, "They have no wine."

2:4Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come."

2:5His mother said to the servants, "Whatever he says to you, do it." 2:6Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews’ manner of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece. 2:7Jesus said to them, "Fill the water pots with water." They filled them up to the brim. 2:8He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast." They took it. 2:9When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and didn’t know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom, 2:10and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!" 2:11This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

The performance of signs facilitates those witnessing the signs to believe in the person performing those signs. For human beings tend to believe the voice of signs. Nevertheless, it should be remembered that signs on their own are not definitive in the determination of a matter. They are, at best, an aid in facilitating belief in Yahweh and in Yahweh's work through his servants. The key thing is to believe Yahweh and his works through his servants.
