Yahweh Graciously Heals Those Whom He Wills When He Wills

Luke 4:16-30 reads,

4:16He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 4:17The book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He opened the book, and found the place where it was written,

4:18"The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
Because he anointed me to preach good news to the poor.

He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim release to the captives,
Recovering of sight to the blind,
To deliver those who are crushed,
4:19And to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."

4:20He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of all in the synagogue were fastened on him. 4:21He began to tell them, "Today, this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."

4:22All testified about him, and wondered at the words of grace which proceeded out of his mouth, and they said, "Isn’t this Joseph’s son?"

4:23He said to them, "Doubtless you will tell me this parable, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done at Capernaum, do also here in your hometown.’" 4:24He said, "Most assuredly I tell you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown. 4:25But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land. 4:26Elijah was sent to none of them, except only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 4:27There were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed, except Naaman, the Syrian."

4:28They were all filled with wrath in the synagogue, as they heard these things; 4:29and they rose up, and threw him out of the city, and led him to the brow of the hill that their city was built on, that they might throw him off the cliff. 4:30But he, passing through the midst of them, went his way.

It should be noted that healing is a gracious work. Yahweh heals or delivers those he desires to deliver at his appointed times. For so he did with the widow in Zarephath in Elijah's day, and with Naaman the Syrian in Elisha's day. And so he did with Yah'shuah healing some but not all.

Minister To Yah'shuah When You Receive Deliverance At His Hands

Luke 8:1-3 reads,

8:1It happened soon afterwards, that he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God, and with him the twelve, 8:2and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary who was called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out; 8:3and Joanna, the wife of Chuzas, Herod’s steward; Susanna; and many others; who ministered to them from their possessions.

It is noted that the women who accompanied Yah'shuah on his preaching missions were those whom he had healed of evil spirits and infirmities. They had received a benefit out of Yah'shuah's hand, and had turned to Yahweh's righteousness, having departed from iniquity. These now ministered to Yah'shuah and his twelve disciples out of their own possessions.

Learning from the example of these women whom Yah'shuah delivered from oppression, those who are likewise delivered from oppression should serve Yahweh by providing for his servants out of the resources that Yahweh has placed at their disposal.

Yah'shuah Has Power And Authority Over Unclean Spirits

Luke 8:27-39 reads,

8:27When Jesus stepped ashore, a certain man out of the city met him, who had demons for a long time. He wore no clothes, and didn’t live in a house, but in the tombs. 8:28When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, "What do I have to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torment me!" 8:29For Jesus was commanding the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For the unclean spirit had often seized the man. He was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters. Breaking the bands apart, he was driven by the demon into the desert.

8:30Jesus asked him, "What is your name?"

He said, "Legion," for many demons had entered into him. 8:31They begged him that he would not command them to go into the abyss. 8:32Now there was there a herd of many pigs feeding on the mountain, and they begged him that he would allow them to enter into those. He allowed them. 8:33The demons came out from the man, and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake, and were drowned. 8:34When those who fed them saw what had happened, they fled, and told it in the city and in the country.

8:35People went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting, clothed and in his right mind, at the feet of Jesus; and they were afraid. 8:36Those who saw it told them how he who was possessed by demons was healed. 8:37All the people of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes asked him to depart from them, for they were very much afraid. He entered into the boat, and returned. 8:38But the man from whom the demons had gone out begged him that he might go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, 8:39"Return to your house, and declare what great things God has done for you." He went his way, proclaiming throughout the whole city what great things Jesus had done for him.

It should be noted that Yah'shuah has power and authority over unclean spirits, even power to torment them, even power to command them to go into the abyss. Unclean spirits know that Yah'shuah has this power and authority over them, and FEAR him!

Unclean Spirits Dwelling In Flesh Can Take Over The Minds Of The Flesh They Dwell In

It should also be noted that spirits dwelling in flesh take over the minds of the flesh they dwell in, and empower such flesh to behave in extraordinary ways. For the unclean spirits dwelling in the man spoken of above gave him immense physical strength, breaking even chains and fetters. They also caused the man to dwell away from human habitation, and drove the herd of pigs to their destruction when they ceased dwelling in the man and entered the herd!

Some Unclean Spirits Apparently Behave Foolishly

One wonders - what did these demons achieve by killing the herd of pigs? Didn't they lose their new dwelling place, the pigs, and therefore had to find other dwelling places? Their action doesn't appear sensible! But then, on the other hand, they are UNCLEAN spirits and lacking in the wisdom of the Holy Spirit! One should therefore not expect the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to reside in them, but folly!

Have Sufficient Faith To Undertake The Works That Yahweh Gives You

Luke 9:37-43 reads,

9:37It happened on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, that a great multitude met him. 9:38Behold, a man from the crowd called out, saying, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child. 9:39Behold, a spirit takes him, he suddenly cries out, and it convulses him so that he foams, and it hardly departs from him, bruising him severely. 9:40I begged your disciples to cast it out, and they couldn’t."

9:41Jesus answered, "Faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here."

9:42While he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him violently. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. 9:43They were all astonished at the majesty of God.

It should be noted that Yah'shuah had greater faith than his disciples, facilitating his healing the demon possessed boy, whereas his disciples weren't able to so do. Taking note of Yah'shuah's exasperated cry, it appears that his servants, whom he authorises over unclean spirits and every sickness and disease, should ensure that they always have sufficient faith to undertake the works that they ought.

Unclean Spirits Bring Infirmities Upon Humans

Luke 13:10-17 reads,

13:10He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day. 13:11Behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and she was bent over, and could in no way straighten herself up. 13:12When Jesus saw her, he called her, and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." 13:13He laid his hands on her, and immediately she stood up straight, and glorified God.

13:14The ruler of the synagogue, being moved with indignation because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the multitude, "There are six days in which men ought to work. Therefore come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day!"

13:15Therefore the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Doesn’t each one of you free his ox or his donkey from the stall on the Sabbath, and lead him away to water? 13:16Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound eighteen long years, be freed from this bondage on the Sabbath day?"

13:17As he said these things, all his adversaries were put to shame, and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

It should be noted that some infirmities come upon humans on account of being bound by Satan or unclean spirits. For the infirmity that afflicted the woman was brought about by Satan.

Give Yahweh The Glory When He Heals You

Luke 17:11-19 reads,

17:11It happened as he was on his way to Jerusalem, that he was passing along the borders of Samaria and Galilee. 17:12As he entered into a certain village, ten men who were lepers met him, who stood far away. 17:13They lifted up their voices, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"

17:14When he saw them, he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." It happened, as they went, they were cleansed. 17:15One of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, glorifying God with a loud voice. 17:16He fell on his face at his feet, giving him thanks. He was a Samaritan. 17:17Jesus answered, "Weren’t the ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 17:18Were there none found who returned to give glory to God, except this stranger?" 17:19He said to him, "Get up, and go your way. Your faith has healed you."

When Yahweh heals us, we should give him the glory, appreciating this good and miraculous work for us.

Mercy From The Son Of David

Luke 18:35-43 reads,

18:35It happened, as he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging. 18:36Hearing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant. 18:37They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. 18:38He cried out, "Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!" 18:39Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, "You son of David, have mercy on me!"

18:40Jesus, standing, commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him, 18:41"What do you want me to do?"

He said, "Lord, that I may see again."

18:42Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you."

18:43Immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.

Yah'shuah Healed One Of His Captors

Luke 22:49-51 reads,

22:49When those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said to him, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?" 22:50A certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.

22:51But Jesus answered, "Let me at least do this" — and he touched his ear, and healed him.

Healing To Facilitate Belief In Yahweh And Yah'shuah

John 4:46-54 reads,

4:46Jesus came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water into wine. There was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. 4:47When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to him, and begged him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 4:48Jesus therefore said to him, "Unless you see signs and wonders, you will in no way believe."

4:49The nobleman said to him, "Sir, come down before my child dies." 4:50Jesus said to him, "Go your way. Your son lives." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. 4:51As he was now going down, his servants met him and reported, saying "Your child lives!" 4:52So he inquired of them the hour when he began to get better. They said therefore to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him." 4:53So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said to him, "Your son lives." He believed, as did his whole house. 4:54This is again the second sign that Jesus did, having come out of Judea into Galilee.

There are some people who do not believe in Yah'shuah unless they see signs and wonders. The nobleman from Capernaum was one such man, and when Yah'shuah healed his son his entire household believed in him. It is therefore noted that a purpose for Yahweh selecting some people to heal is to facilitate their believing in him and his Son on account of their healing witness.

Sin Brought About The Sickness Of A Man Yah'shuah Healed

John 5:2-23 reads,

5:2Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, "Bethesda," having five porches. 5:3In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water; 5:4for an angel of the Lord went down at certain times into the pool, and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was made whole of whatever disease he was afflicted with. 5:5A certain man was there, who had been sick for thirty-eight years. 5:6When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to be made well?"

5:7The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me."

5:8Jesus said to him, "Arise, take up your mat, and walk."

5:9Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked.

Now it was the Sabbath on that day. 5:10So the Jews said to him who was cured, "It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat."

5:11He answered them, "He who made me well, the same said to me, ‘Take up your mat, and walk.’"

5:12Then they asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat, and walk’?"

5:13But he who was healed didn’t know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.

5:14Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you."

5:15The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. 5:16For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath. 5:17But Jesus answered them, "My Father is still working, so I am working, too." 5:18For this cause therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God. 5:19Jesus therefore answered them, "Most assuredly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise. 5:20For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel. 5:21For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires. 5:22For neither does the Father judge any man, but he has given all judgment to the Son, 5:23that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father who sent him.

Yah'shuah confirmed in 5:14 that sin is indeed a cause for sickness. For the sickness the man endured for 38 years was brought about by the man's sin. Yah'shuah therefore warned him to abide in the way of righteousness, that he avoids experiencing a worse calamity than what he had endured for 38 years!

We should therefore abide in righteousness, that the curses of sickness and disease not afflict us.

Do The Works Shown You By Yahweh And Yah'shuah

It should also be noted that Yah'shuah undertakes his works as he is taught them by the Father. These works include healing on the Sabbath and raising the dead to life. We should likewise, learning from Yah'shuah, do the works they have given us and taught us to do.

Healing As An Opportunity To Witness Yahweh And Yah'shuah

Acts 3 reads,

3:1Peter and John were going up into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 3:2A certain man who was lame from his mother’s womb was being carried, whom they laid daily at the door of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask gifts for the needy of those who entered into the temple. 3:3Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive gifts for the needy. 3:4Peter, fastening his eyes on him, with John, said, "Look at us." 3:5He listened to them, expecting to receive something from them. 3:6But Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise and walk!" 3:7He took him by the right hand, and raised him up. Immediately his feet and his ankle bones received strength. 3:8Leaping up, he stood, and began to walk. He entered with them into the temple, walking, leaping, and praising God. 3:9All the people saw him walking and praising God. 3:10They recognized him, that it was he who sat begging for gifts for the needy at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. They were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened to him. 3:11As the lame man who was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.

3:12When Peter saw it, he answered to the people, "You men of Israel, why do you marvel at this man? Why do you fasten your eyes on us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk? 3:13The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied before the face of Pilate, when he had determined to release him. 3:14But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 3:15and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, whereof we are witnesses. 3:16By faith in his name has his name made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which is through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

3:17"Now, brothers, I know that you did this in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 3:18But the things which God announced by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled.

3:19"Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord, 3:20and that he may send Christ Jesus, who was ordained for you before, 3:21whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, whereof God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from ancient times. 3:22For Moses indeed said to the fathers, ‘The Lord God will raise up a prophet to you from among your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in all things whatever he says to you. 3:23It will be, that every soul that will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 3:24Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, they also told of these days. 3:25You are the sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘In your seed will all the families of the earth be blessed.’ 3:26God, having raised up his servant, Jesus, sent him to you first, to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from your wickedness."

It should be noted that Yahweh used Peter to heal the lame man as an opportunity to preach his word to the people who were gathered together at the Temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer. In other words, Yahweh's healing works are a witness to those who experience them, and an opportunity for them to receive his words.

Seek Yahweh's Strength When You Face Opposition In Performing His Will

Acts 4:1-31 reads,

4:1As they spoke to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came to them, 4:2being upset because they taught the people and proclaimed in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 4:3They laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was now evening. 4:4But many of those who heard the word believed, and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.

4:5It happened in the morning, that their rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem. 4:6Annas the high priest was there, with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and as many as were relatives of the high priest. 4:7When they had stood them in the midst, they inquired, "By what power, or in what name, have you done this?"

4:8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, 4:9if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, 4:10be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you whole. 4:11He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which was made the head of the corner.’ 4:12There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, in which we must be saved!"

4:13Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and had perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled. They recognized that they had been with Jesus. 4:14Seeing the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 4:15But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 4:16saying, "What shall we do to these men? Because indeed a notable miracle has been done through them, as can be plainly seen by all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we can’t deny it. 4:17But so that this spreads no further among the people, let’s threaten them, that from now on they don’t speak to anyone in this name." 4:18They called them, and charged them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

4:19But Peter and John answered them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, judge for yourselves, 4:20for we can’t help telling the things which we saw and heard."

4:21They, when they had further threatened them, let them go, finding no way to punish them, because of the people; for everyone glorified God for that which was done. 4:22For the man was more than forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was performed.

4:23Being let go, they came to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 4:24They, when they heard it, lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, "O Lord, you are God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them; 4:25who by the mouth of your servant, David, said,

‘Why do the nations rage,
And the peoples plot a vain thing?

4:26The kings of the earth take a stand,
And the rulers take council together,
Against the Lord, and against his
Christ.’

4:27For truly, in this city against your holy servant, Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together 4:28to do whatever your hand and your council foreordained to happen. 4:29Now, Lord, look at their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your word with all boldness, 4:30while you stretch out your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of your holy Servant Jesus."

4:31When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

It should be noted that Yah'shuah's servants face opposition when they perform his works. When they encounter such, they should cry to Yahweh to strengthen them with the power of his Holy Spirit. And strengthen them with the Holy Spirit Yahweh will, even as he did as recorded above.

Yahweh Healed Several Through Peter

Acts 5:12-16 reads,

5:12By the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. They were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch. 5:13None of the rest dared to join them, however the people honored them. 5:14More believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women. 5:15They even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on cots and mattresses, so that as Peter came by, at the least his shadow might overshadow some of them. 5:16Multitudes also came together from the cities around Jerusalem, bringing sick people, and those who were tormented by unclean spirits: and they were all healed.

Healing The Sick In Order To Obtain Their Attention To Yahweh's Word

Acts 8:5-8 reads,

8:5Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and proclaimed to them the Christ. 8:6The multitudes listened with one accord to the things that were spoken by Philip, when they heard and saw the signs which he did. 8:7For unclean spirits came out of many of those who had them. They came out, crying with a loud voice. Many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed. 8:8There was great joy in that city.

It should be noted that Yahweh used the signs that he did by Philip's hand to get the attention of the people of Samaria. Then they listened to the word he had for them by Philip, and they received his word. It is therefore the case that Yahweh uses the healing power that he gives to his servants to get the attention of those they minister to, that they may be receptive to his word.

Healing The Sick To Draw People To Yahweh

Acts 9:32-35 reads,

9:32It happened, as Peter went throughout all those parts, he came down also to the saints who lived at Lydda. 9:33There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years, because he was paralyzed. 9:34Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and make your bed!" Immediately he arose. 9:35All who lived at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord.

When the people of Lydda witnessed Yahweh's healing power, through Peter's hand, they turned to Yahweh. Yahweh therefore uses healing as a witness by which to draw people unto himself.

The Sick Are Oppressed By The Devil

Acts 10:34-43 reads,

10:34Peter opened his mouth and said, "Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; 10:35but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him. 10:36The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ — he is Lord of all — 10:37that spoken word you yourselves know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 10:38even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 10:39We are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree. 10:40God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed, 10:41not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 10:42He charged us to preach to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead. 10:43All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins."

Peter preached that Yah'shuah healed those that he did by the power of the Holy Spirit from Yahweh. He also taught his audience that those who are sick are under the oppression of the devil, even as Yah'shuah taught with respect to the woman who had been infirm for 18 years.

Prayer Of Faith And Laying On Of Hands Facilitates Healing

Acts 28:7-10 reads,

28:7Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us, and courteously entertained us three days. 28:8It was so, that the father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him. 28:9Then when this was done, the rest also that had diseases in the island came, and were cured. 28:10They also honored us with many honors, and when we sailed, they put on board the things that we needed.

The prayer of faith, and the laying on of hands, facilitates the healing of those to be healed.
