It shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness;3:25
Your men shall fall by the sword,3:26

Seven women shall take hold of one man in that day, saying, "We will eat our own bread, and wear our own clothing: only let us be called by your name. Take away our reproach."Yahweh's Judgement On His Vineyard
Isaiah 5:1-7 reads,
5:1
Let me sing for my well beloved a song of my beloved about his vineyard.5:2
He dug it up,He looked for it to yield grapes,
But it yielded wild grapes.
5:3

Isaiah 11:1-5 reads,
11:1
There shall come forth a shoot out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots shall bear fruit. 11:2The Spirit of Yahweh shall rest on him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yahweh. 11:3His delight shall be in the fear of Yahweh; and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither decide after the hearing of his ears; 11:4but with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips shall he kill the wicked. 11:5Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.Isaiah 16:4-5 reads,
For the extortioner is brought to nothing, destruction ceases, the oppressors are consumed out of the land. 16:5A throne shall be established in lovingkindness; and one shall sit thereon in truth, in the tent of David, judging, and seeking justice, and swift to do righteousness.
Isaiah 33:10-22 reads,
33:10
Now will I arise, says Yahweh; now will I lift up myself; now will I be exalted. 33:11You shall conceive chaff, you shall bring forth stubble: your breath is a fire that shall devour you. 33:12The peoples shall be as the burning of lime, as thorns cut down, that are burned in the fire. 33:13Hear, you who are far off, what I have done; and, you who are near, acknowledge my might. 33:14The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the godless ones: Who among us can dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us can dwell with everlasting burning? 33:15He who walks righteously, and speaks blamelessly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands from taking a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from looking on evil: 33:16He shall dwell on high; his place of defense shall be the munitions of rocks; his bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure. 33:17Your eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall see a land that reaches afar. 33:18Your heart shall muse on the terror: Where is he who counted, where is he who weighed the tribute? Where is he who counted the towers? 33:19You shall not see the fierce people, a people of a deep speech that you can not comprehend, of a strange language that you can not understand. 33:20Look on Zion, the city of our solemnities: your eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tent that shall not be removed, the stakes whereof shall never be plucked up, neither shall any of the cords of it be broken. 33:21But there Yahweh will be with us in majesty, a place of broad rivers and streams, in which shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. 33:22For Yahweh is our judge, Yahweh is our lawgiver, Yahweh is our king; he will save us.Yahweh's Arm Shall Judge The Peoples
Isaiah 51:1-10 reads,
51:1
Listen to me, you who follow after righteousness, you who seek Yahweh: look to the rock whence you were hewn, and to the hold of the pit whence you were dug. 51:2Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many. 51:3For Yahweh has comforted Zion; he has comforted all her waste places, and has made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Yahweh; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. 51:4Attend to me, my people; and give ear to me, my nation: for a law shall go forth from me, and I will establish my justice for a light of the peoples. 51:5My righteousness is near, my salvation is gone forth, and my arms shall judge the peoples; the isles shall wait for me, and on my arm shall they trust. 51:6Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and those who dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished. 51:7Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; don’t you fear the reproach of men, neither be you dismayed at their insults. 51:8For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation to all generations. 51:9Awake, awake, put on strength, arm of Yahweh; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Isn’t it you who did cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the monster? 51:10Isn’t it you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?Yahweh Will Execute Judgement By Fire And By His Sword
Isaiah 66:15-16 reads,
66:15
For, behold, Yahweh will come with fire, and his chariots shall be like the whirlwind; to render his anger with fierceness, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 66:16For by fire will Yahweh execute judgment, and by his sword, on all flesh; and the slain of Yahweh shall be many.Yahweh's Judgements Against Jerusalem And Judah
Jeremiah 1:13-17 reads,
1:13
The word of Yahweh came to me the second time, saying, What see you? I said, I see a boiling caldron; and the face of it is from the north. 1:14Then Yahweh said to me, Out of the north evil shall break forth on all the inhabitants of the land. 1:15For, behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, says Yahweh; and they shall come, and they shall set everyone his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls of it round about, and against all the cities of Judah. 1:16I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands. 1:17You therefore gird up your loins, and arise, and speak to them all that I command you: don’t be dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them.Yahweh Enters Into Judgement With Those Who Do Not Acknowledge Their Sin
Jeremiah 2:31-37 reads,
2:31
Generation, see the word of Yahweh. Have I been a wilderness to Israel? Or a land of thick darkness? Why say my people, We are broken loose; we will come no more to you? 2:32Can a virgin forget her ornaments, or a bride her attire? Yet my people have forgotten me days without number. 2:33How trimmest you your way to seek love! Therefore even the wicked women have you taught your ways. 2:34Also in your skirts is found the blood of the souls of the innocent poor: you did not find them breaking in; but it is because of all these things. 2:35Yet you said, I am innocent; surely his anger is turned away from me. Behold, I will enter into judgment with you, because you say, I have not sinned. 2:36Why go you about so much to change your way? You shall be ashamed of Egypt also, as you were ashamed of Assyria. 2:37From there also shall you go forth, with your hands on your head: for Yahweh has rejected those in whom you trust, and you shall not prosper with them.Yahweh Tries The Heart And The Mind
Jeremiah 11:18-23 reads,
11:18
Yahweh gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then you shown me their doings. 11:19But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I didn’t know that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit of it, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered. 11:20But, Yahweh of Hosts, who judge righteously, who try the heart and the mind, I shall see your vengeance on them; for to you have I revealed my cause. 11:21Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, saying, You shall not prophesy in the name of Yahweh, that you not die by our hand; 11:22therefore thus says Yahweh of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine; 11:23and there shall be no remnant to them: for I will bring evil on the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation. It Is Well With Those Who Judge The Cause Of The Poor And Needy
Jeremiah 22:11-19 reads,
22:11
For thus says Yahweh touching Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went forth out of this place: He shall not return there any more. 22:12But in the place where they have led him captive, there shall he die, and he shall see this land no more. 22:13Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by injustice; who uses his neighbor’s service without wages, and doesn’t give him his hire; 22:14who says, I will build me a wide house and spacious chambers, and cuts him out windows; and it is ceiling with cedar, and painted with vermilion. 22:15Shall you reign, because you strive to excel in cedar? Didn’t your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him. 22:16He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Wasn’t this to know me? Says Yahweh. 22:17But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it. 22:18Therefore thus says Yahweh concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! Or, Ah sister! They shall not lament for him, saying Ah lord! Or, Ah his glory! 22:19He shall be buried with the burial of a donkey, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.Yahweh Will Enter Into Judgement With All Flesh
Jeremiah 25:28-33 reads,
Thus says Yahweh of Hosts: You shall surely drink. 25:29For, behold, I begin to work evil at the city which is called by my name; and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says Yahweh of Hosts. 25:30Therefore prophesy you against them all these words, and tell them, Yahweh will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar against his fold; he will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. 25:31A noise shall come even to the end of the earth; for Yahweh has a controversy with the nations; he will enter into judgment with all flesh: as for the wicked, he will give them to the sword, says Yahweh. 25:32Thus says Yahweh of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great tempest shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth. 25:33The slain of Yahweh shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung on the surface of the ground.
Yahweh's Prophesied Judgement Executions Against Jerusalem
Ezekiel 5 reads,
5:1
You, son of man, take a sharp sword; as a barber’s razor shall you take it to you, and shall cause it to pass on your head and on your beard: then take balances to weigh, and divide the hair. 5:2A third part shall you burn in the fire in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled; and you shall take a third part, and strike with the sword round about it; and a third part you shall scatter to the wind, and I will draw out a sword after them. 5:3You shall take of it a few in number, and bind them in your skirts. 5:4Of these again shall you take, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; from it shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.5:5
Thus says the Lord Yahweh: This is Jerusalem; I have set her in the midst of the nations, and countries are round about her. 5:6She has rebelled against my ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are round about her; for they have rejected my ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them. 5:7Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Because you are turbulent more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my ordinances, neither have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you; 5:8therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I, even I, am against you; and I will execute judgments in the midst of you in the sight of the nations. 5:9I will do in you that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all your abominations. 5:10Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of you, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments on you; and the whole remnant of you will I scatter to all the winds. 5:11Therefore, as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your abominations, therefore will I also diminish you; neither shall my eye spare, and I also will have no pity. 5:12A third part of you shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of you; and a third part shall fall by the sword round about you; and a third part I will scatter to all the winds, and will draw out a sword after them. 5:13Thus shall my anger be accomplished, and I will cause my wrath toward them to rest, and I shall be comforted; and they shall know that I, Yahweh, have spoken in my zeal, when I have accomplished my wrath on them.5:14
Moreover I will make you a desolation and a reproach among the nations that are round about you, in the sight of all that pass by. 5:15So it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment, to the nations that are round about you, when I shall execute judgments on you in anger and in wrath, and in wrathful rebukes; (I, Yahweh, have spoken it;) 5:16when I shall send on them the evil arrows of famine, that are for destruction, which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine on you, and will break your staff of bread; 5:17and I will send on you famine and evil animals, and they shall bereave you; and pestilence and blood shall pass through you; and I will bring the sword on you: I, Yahweh, have spoken it.Yahweh Judges A Person According To His Ways
Ezekiel 7:1-9 reads,
7:1
Moreover the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 7:2You, son of man, thus says the Lord Yahweh to the land of Israel, An end: the end is come on the four corners of the land. 7:3Now is the end on you, and I will send my anger on you, and will judge you according to your ways; and I will bring on you all your abominations. 7:4My eye shall not spare you, neither will I have pity; but I will bring your ways on you, and your abominations shall be in the midst of you: and you shall know that I am Yahweh. 7:5Thus says the Lord Yahweh: An evil, an only evil; behold, it comes. 7:6An end is come, the end is come; it awakes against you; behold, it comes. 7:7Your doom is come to you, inhabitant of the land: the time is come, the day is near, a day of tumult, and not of joyful shouting, on the mountains. 7:8Now will I shortly pour out my wrath on you, and accomplish my anger against you, and will judge you according to your ways; and I will bring on you all your abominations. 7:9My eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: I will bring on you according to your ways; and your abominations shall be in the midst of you; and you shall know that I, Yahweh, do strike.Yahweh Executes Judgements Against Those Who Do Not Walk According To His Statutes
Ezekiel 11:5-12 reads,
11:5
The Spirit of Yahweh fell on me, and he said to me, Speak, Thus says Yahweh: Thus have you said, house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind. 11:6You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled the streets of it with the slain. 11:7Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron; but you shall be brought forth out of the midst of it. 11:8You have feared the sword; and I will bring the sword on you, says the Lord Yahweh. 11:9I will bring you forth out of the midst of it, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you. 11:10You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and you shall know that I am Yahweh. 11:11This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall you be the flesh in the midst of it; I will judge you in the border of Israel; 11:12and you shall know that I am Yahweh: for you have not walked in my statutes, neither have you executed my ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are round about you.Yahweh's Judgements Are Not Executed Without Cause
Ezekiel 14:21-23 reads,
14:21
For thus says the Lord Yahweh: How much more when I send my four sore judgments on Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the evil animals, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and animal! 14:22Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be carried forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth to you, and you shall see their way and their doings; and you shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought on it. 14:23They shall comfort you, when you see their way and their doings; and you shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, says the Lord Yahweh.Yahweh's Judgement For Women Who Break Wedlock And Shed Blood
Ezekiel 16:35-43 reads,
16:35
Therefore, prostitute, hear the word of Yahweh: 16:36Thus says the Lord Yahweh, Because your filthiness was poured out, and your nakedness uncovered through your prostitution with your lovers; and because of all the idols of your abominations, and for the blood of your children, that you gave to them; 16:37therefore see, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have taken pleasure, and all those who you have loved, with all those who you have hated; I will even gather them against you on every side, and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness. 16:38I will judge you, as women who break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy. 16:39I will also give you into their hand, and they shall throw down your vaulted place, and break down your lofty places; and they shall strip you of your clothes, and take your beautiful jewels; and they shall leave you naked and bare. 16:40They shall also bring up a company against you, and they shall stone you with stones, and thrust you through with their swords. 16:41They shall burn your houses with fire, and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women; and I will cause you to cease from playing the prostitute, and you shall also give no hire any more. 16:42So will I cause my wrath toward you to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from you, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry. 16:43Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring your way on your head, says the Lord Yahweh: and you shall not commit this lewdness with all your abominations.Yahweh Judges Everyone According To His Ways
Ezekiel 18:30-32 reads,
18:30
Therefore I will judge you, house of Israel, everyone according to his ways, says the Lord Yahweh. Return you, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. 18:31Cast away from you all your transgressions, in which you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die, house of Israel? 18:32For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies, says the Lord Yahweh: therefore turn yourselves, and live.Judges Should Cause Those They Judge To Know All Their Abominations
Ezekiel 22:1-16 reads,
22:1
Moreover the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, 22:2You, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Then cause her to know all her abominations. 22:3You shall say, Thus says the Lord Yahweh: A city that sheds blood in the midst of her, that her time may come, and that makes idols against herself to defile her! 22:4You have become guilty in your blood that you have shed, and are defiled in your idols which you have made; and you have caused your days to draw near, and are come even to your years: therefore have I made you a reproach to the nations, and a mocking to all the countries. 22:5Those who are near, and those who are far from you, shall mock you, you infamous one and full of tumult. 22:6Behold, the princes of Israel, everyone according to his power, have been in you to shed blood. 22:7In you have they set light by father and mother; in the midst of you have they dealt by oppression with the sojourner; in you have they wronged the fatherless and the widow. 22:8You have despised my holy things, and have profaned my Sabbaths. 22:9Slanderous men have been in you to shed blood; and in you they have eaten on the mountains: in the midst of you they have committed lewdness. 22:10In you have they uncovered their fathers’ nakedness; in you have they humbled her who was unclean in her impurity. 22:11One has committed abomination with his neighbor’s wife; and another has lewdly defiled his daughter-in-law; and another in you has humbled his sister, his father’s daughter. 22:12In you have they taken bribes to shed blood; you have taken interest and increase, and you have greedily gained of your neighbors by oppression, and have forgotten me, says the Lord Yahweh. 22:13Behold, therefore, I have struck my hand at your dishonest gain which you have made, and at your blood which has been in the midst of you. 22:14Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I, Yahweh, have spoken it, and will do it. 22:15I will scatter you among the nations, and disperse you through the countries; and I will consume your filthiness out of you. 22:16You shall be profaned in yourself, in the sight of the nations; and you shall know that I am Yahweh.Yahweh's Judgement Of Adulteresses And Of Women Who Shed Blood
Ezekiel 23:36-49 reads,
23:36
Yahweh said moreover to me: Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations. 23:37For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands; and with their idols have they committed adultery; and they have also caused their sons, whom they bore to me, to pass through the fire to them to be devoured. 23:38Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my Sabbaths. 23:39For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, behold, thus have they done in the midst of my house. 23:40Furthermore you have sent for men who come from far, to whom a messenger was sent, and, behold, they came; for whom you did wash yourself, paint your eyes, and deck yourself with ornaments, 23:41and sit on a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon you did set my incense and my oil. 23:42The voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with men of the common sort were brought drunkards from the wilderness; and they put bracelets on the hands of them twain, and beautiful crowns on their heads. 23:43Then said I of her who was old in adulteries, Now will they play the prostitute with her, and she with them. 23:44They went in to her, as they go in to a prostitute: so went they in to Oholah and to Oholibah, the lewd women.23:45
Righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women who shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands. 23:46For thus says the Lord Yahweh: I will bring up a company against them, and will give them to be tossed back and forth and robbed. 23:47The company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall kill their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire. 23:48Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness. 23:49They shall recompense your lewdness on you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols; and you shall know that I am the Lord Yahweh.[Previous Section] [Contents] [Next Section]
