Yahweh Can Remove The Holy Spirit From Dwelling In A Person

Psalm 51:11 reads,

51:11Don’t throw me from your presence,
And don’t take your holy Spirit from me.

David had the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. He also understood that the Holy Spirit doesn't dwell in those who persist in sin. Therefore, when pleading for Yahweh's mercy upon his repentance for his sin of adultery with Bathsheba, David asked Yahweh to retain the dwelling of his Holy Spirit within him. For the Holy Spirit dwelling in a person facilitates that person doing the will of Yahweh.

It should be noted that the Holy Spirit dwelling in a person doesn't force that person to do Yahweh's will. For, despite the Holy Spirit having been dwelling in David, the latter still went ahead and sinned against Yahweh. The Holy Spirit empowers those he dwells in to do Yahweh's will when they desire to so do. But he doesn't force them to do Yahweh's will. It therefore appears that the responsibility for doing good or evil rests on the individual. Yahweh simply empowers those who desire to do good by giving them the gift of his Holy Spirit to facilitate their walking in righteousness - doing what is in their heart.

Rebellion Against Yahweh Grieves The Holy Spirit

Isaiah 63:7-14 reads,

63:7I will make mention of the lovingkindnesses of Yahweh, and the praises of Yahweh, according to all that Yahweh has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. 63:8For he said, Surely, they are my people, children who will not deal falsely: so he was their Savior. 63:9In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old. 63:10But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them. 63:11Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his holy Spirit in the midst of them? 63:12Who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? Who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name? 63:13Who led them through the depths, as a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn’t stumble? 63:14As the cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of Yahweh caused them to rest; so did you lead your people, to make yourself a glorious name.

It should be noted that Yahweh put his Holy Spirit in the midst of his people Israel, when he delivered them out of Egypt and led them in the way of the wilderness. But when Israel rebelled against Yahweh, the effect of that rebellion was to grieve Yahweh's Holy Spirit. It should therefore be clear that when those among whom the Holy Spirit dwells rebel against Yahweh they indeed grieve the Holy Spirit.

That the Holy Spirit can be grieved shows that he indeed has emotions just as a person has emotions, thereby suggesting that he is indeed a person.

It should be noted that Yahweh gave the children of Israel rest by his Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Yahweh, and also led them by this same Spirit. The Holy Spirit therefore does Yahweh's bidding, to achieve whatever purpose Yahweh has, such as making Yahweh a glorious name.

The Spirit Of Truth Is Synonymous With The Holy Spirit

1 John 4:1-6 reads,

4:1Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 4:2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 4:3and every spirit who doesn’t confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God, and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already. 4:4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 4:5They are of the world. Therefore they speak of the world, and the world hears them. 4:6We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn’t listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Mighty One, speaks only truth. He is also called the Spirit of Truth. Those spirits that speak error or falsehoods don't belong to Yahweh but are opposed to Yah'shuah.

In 4:4 John shows that the Holy Spirit, who dwells in Yah'shuah's servants, is greater than Satan and the anti-Messiah spirits in the world.

The Holy Spirit In Joseph Interpreted Pharaoh's Dreams

Genesis 41:14-45 reads,

41:14Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon. He shaved himself, changed his clothing, and came in to Pharaoh. 41:15Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have dreamed a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it."

41:16Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, "It isn’t in me: God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace."

41:17Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, "In my dream, behold, I stood on the brink of the river: 41:18and, behold, there came up out of the river seven cattle, fat-fleshed and well-favored. They fed in the reed-grass, 41:19and, behold, seven other cattle came up after them, poor and very ill-favored and lean-fleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness. 41:20The lean and ill-favored cattle ate up the first seven fat cattle, 41:21and when they had eaten them up, it couldn’t be known that they had eaten them, but they were still ill-favored, as at the beginning. So I awoke. 41:22I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up on one stalk, full and good: 41:23and, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them. 41:24The thin ears swallowed up the seven good ears. I told it to the magicians; but there was no one who could explain it to me."

41:25Joseph said to Pharaoh, "The dream of Pharaoh is one. What God is about to do he has declared to Pharaoh. 41:26The seven good cattle are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years. The dream is one. 41:27The seven lean and ill-favored cattle that came up after them are seven years, and also the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind; they will be seven years of famine. 41:28That is the thing which I spoke to Pharaoh. What God is about to do he has shown to Pharaoh. 41:29Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt. 41:30There will arise after them seven years of famine, and all the plenty will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. The famine will consume the land, 41:31and the plenty will not be known in the land by reason of that famine which follows; for it will be very grievous. 41:32The dream was doubled to Pharaoh, because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass. 41:33Now therefore let Pharaoh look for a discreet and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt. 41:34Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint overseers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt’s produce in the seven plenteous years. 41:35Let them gather all the food of these good years that come, and lay up grain under the hand of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it. 41:36The food will be for a store to the land against the seven years of famine, which will be in the land of Egypt; that the land not perish through the famine."

41:37The thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. 41:38Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the spirit of God?" 41:39Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Because God has shown you all of this, there is none so discreet and wise as you. 41:40You shall be over my house, and according to your word will all my people be ruled. Only in the throne I will be greater than you." 41:41Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Behold, I have set you over all the land of Egypt." 41:42Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it on Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck, 41:43and he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had. They cried before him, "Bow the knee!" He set him over all the land of Egypt. 41:44Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I am Pharaoh, and without you shall no man lift up his hand or his foot in all the land of Egypt." 41:45Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphenath-paneah; and he gave him Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On as a wife. Joseph went out over the land of Egypt.

The Spirit of the Mighty One, the Holy Spirit, dwelling in Joseph, interpreted the dream that Yahweh had given Pharaoh. The Holy Spirit also gave Joseph wisdom and discretion, so much so that Pharaoh and his servants were able to discern it. It should therefore be clear that the Holy Spirit has ability to impart dreams to humans, and also to interpret the dreams so imparted. He also has ability to impart wisdom and discretion to humans.

The Holy Spirit Designed And Facilitated The Workmanship Of The Tent Of Meeting

Exodus 31:1-11 reads,

31:1Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 31:2"Behold, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: 31:3and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, 31:4to devise skillful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, 31:5and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all manner of workmanship. 31:6I, behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the heart of all who are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded you: 31:7the tent of meeting, the ark of the testimony, the mercy seat that is on it, all the furniture of the Tent, 31:8the table and its vessels, the pure lampstand with all its vessels, the altar of incense, 31:9the altar of burnt offering with all its vessels, the basin and its base, 31:10the finely worked garments — the holy garments for Aaron the priest — the garments of his sons to minister in the priest’s office, 31:11the anointing oil, and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded you they shall do."

The Spirit of the Mighty One, the Holy Spirit, in humans facilitates those humans performing whatever will of Yahweh for them to perform. Without the Holy Spirit Bezalel, Oholiab and the others appointed with them wouldn't have been able to perform the intricate work of all that pertained to the Tent of Meeting and all in it and associated with it. The Holy Spirit gave them wisdom, understanding, knowledge and all manner of workmanship to facilitate their successfully undertaking the works that Yahweh gave them to undertake.

In like manner when Yahweh gives any human a work to undertake that human needs the Holy Spirit to dwell in him to empower him to successfully undertake the work that Yahweh has given him to do.

The Holy Spirit Gave Bezalel And Oholiab Ability To Teach What He Taught Them

Exodus 35:30-36:1 reads,

35:30Moses said to the children of Israel, "Behold, Yahweh has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 35:31He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; 35:32and to make skillful works, to work in gold, in silver, in brass, 35:33in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all kinds of skillful workmanship. 35:34He has put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35:35He has filled them with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of workmanship, of the engraver, of the skillful workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of those who do any workmanship, and of those who make skillful works.

36:1"Bezalel and Oholiab shall work with every wise-hearted man, in whom Yahweh has put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all the work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that Yahweh has commanded."

It should be noted in 35:34 that the Holy Spirit also gave Bezalel and Oholiab ability to teach others what he taught them. Likewise, it is the Holy Spirit who gives Yah'shuah's servants ability to teach new disciples the various teaching of Yah'shuah, even as Yah'shuah commanded them to teach his new disciples all that he taught them.

The Holy Spirit Uttered Words By Balaam

Numbers 24 reads,

24:1When Balaam saw that it pleased Yahweh to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to meet with enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness. 24:2Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came on him. 24:3He took up his parable, and said,

Balaam the son of Beor says,

The man whose eye was closed says;

24:4He says, who hears the words of God,

Who sees the vision of the Almighty,

Falling down, and having his eyes open:

24:5How goodly are your tents, Jacob,

Your tents, Israel!

24:6As valleys are they spread forth,

As gardens by the river-side,

As lign-aloes which Yahweh has planted,

As cedar trees beside the waters.

24:7Water shall flow from his buckets,

His seed shall be in many waters,

His king shall be higher than Agag,

His kingdom shall be exalted.

24:8God brings him forth out of Egypt;

He has as it were the strength of the wild-ox:

He shall eat up the nations his adversaries,

Shall break their bones in pieces,

Smite them through with his arrows.

24:9He couched, he lay down as a lion,

As a lioness; who shall rouse him up?

Blessed be everyone who blesses you,

Cursed be everyone who curses you.

24:10Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he struck his hands together; and Balak said to Balaam, I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times. 24:11Therefore now flee you to your place: I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, Yahweh has kept you back from honor. 24:12Balaam said to Balak, Didn’t I also tell your messengers who you sent to me, saying, 24:13If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond the word of Yahweh, to do either good or bad of my own mind; what Yahweh speaks, that will I speak? 24:14Now, behold, I go to my people: come, and I will advertise you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days. 24:15He took up his parable, and said,

Balaam the son of Beor says,

The man whose eye was closed says;

24:16He says, who hears the words of God,

Knows the knowledge of the Most High,

Who sees the vision of the Almighty,

Falling down, and having his eyes open:

24:17I see him, but not now;

I see him, but not near:

There shall come forth a star out of Jacob,

A scepter shall rise out of Israel,

Shall strike through the corners of Moab,

Break down all the sons of tumult.

24:18Edom shall be a possession,

Seir also shall be a possession, who were his enemies;

While Israel does valiantly.

24:19Out of Jacob shall one have dominion,

Shall destroy the remnant from the city.

24:20He looked at Amalek, and took up his parable, and said,

Amalek was the first of the nations;

But his latter end shall come to destruction.

24:21He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said,

Strong is your dwelling-place,

Your nest is set in the rock.

24:22Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted,

Until Asshur shall carry you away captive.

24:23He took up his parable, and said,

Alas, who shall live when God does this?

24:24But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim,

They shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber;

He also shall come to destruction.

24:25Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.

24:2 shows that the Spirit of the Mighty One, the Holy Spirit, came upon Balaam, and upon so coming Balaam uttered various words. The words Balaam uttered when the Holy Spirit was upon him weren't his words, but those of the Holy Spirit. Balaam's words to Balak in 24:13 show that he understood that the words that he was uttering concerning Israel weren't his words, but belonged to Yahweh. For the Holy Spirit took Yahweh's words and uttered them through the mouth of Balaam.

The Holy Spirit Changed Saul's Heart

1 Samuel 9:26-10:13 reads,

9:26They arose early: and it happened about the spring of the day, that Samuel called to Saul on the housetop, saying, Up, that I may send you away. Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad. 9:27As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us (and he passed on), but stand you still first, that I may cause you to hear the word of God.

10:1Then Samuel took the vial of oil, and poured it on his head, and kissed him, and said, Isn’t it that Yahweh has anointed you to be prince over his inheritance? 10:2When you are departed from me today, then you shall find two men by Rachel’s tomb, in the border of Benjamin at Zelzah; and they will tell you, The donkeys which you went to seek are found; and, behold, your father has left off caring for the donkeys, and is anxious for you, saying, What shall I do for my son? 10:3Then shall you go on forward from there, and you shall come to the oak of Tabor; and there shall meet you there three men going up to God to Bethel, one carrying three kids, and another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a bottle of wine: 10:4and they will Greet you, and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive of their hand. 10:5After that you shall come to the hill of God, where is the garrison of the Philistines: and it shall happen, when you are come there to the city, that you shall meet a band of prophets coming down from the high place with a psaltery, and a tambourine, and a pipe, and a harp, before them; and they will be prophesying: 10:6and the Spirit of Yahweh will come mightily on you, and you shall prophesy with them, and shall be turned into another man. 10:7Let it be, when these signs are come to you, that you do as occasion shall serve you; for God is with you. 10:8You shall go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down to you, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace-offerings: seven days shall you wait, until I come to you, and show you what you shall do. 10:9It was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs happened that day. 10:10When they came there to the hill, behold, a band of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came mightily on him, and he prophesied among them. 10:11It happened, when all who knew him before saw that, behold, he prophesied with the prophets, then the people said one to another, What is this that is come to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets? 10:12One of the same place answered, Who is their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also among the prophets? 10:13When he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the high place.

It should be noted that the Holy Spirit is also called the Spirit of Yahweh and the Spirit of the Mighty One. When the Holy Spirit comes upon one he prophesies through that one. He also has ability to change the heart of those people among whom he dwells, even as he changed Saul's heart.

The Holy Spirit Manifested Anger Through Saul

1 Samuel 11 reads,

11:1Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh-gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you. 11:2Nahash the Ammonite said to them, On this condition will I make it with you, that all your right eyes be put out; and I will lay it for a reproach on all Israel. 11:3The elders of Jabesh said to him, Give us seven days’ respite, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel; and then, if there be none to save us, we will come out to you.

11:4Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept. 11:5Behold, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, What ails the people that they weep? They told him the words of the men of Jabesh. 11:6The Spirit of God came mightily on Saul when he heard those words, and his anger was kindled greatly. 11:7He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, Whoever doesn’t come forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen. The dread of Yahweh fell on the people, and they came out as one man. 11:8He numbered them in Bezek; and the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand. 11:9They said to the messengers who came, Thus shall you tell the men of Jabesh-gilead, Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance. The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad. 11:10Therefore the men of Jabesh said, Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you.

11:11It was so on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together. 11:12The people said to Samuel, Who is he who said, Shall Saul reign over us? Bring the men, that we may put them to death. 11:13Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today Yahweh has worked deliverance in Israel. 11:14Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there. 11:15All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before Yahweh in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace-offerings before Yahweh; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.

11:6 shows that Saul's anger wasn't of his own making, but was the work of the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of the Mighty One. It should therefore be evident that there are things that make the Holy Spirit angry, causing him to act in anger.

11:7 shows the results of the anger of the Holy Spirit - causing the people to fear Yahweh and obey the word of Saul their king, which was truly the word of the Holy Spirit spoken through Saul. In other words, when the Holy Spirit seeks to undertake a particular work in a given territory at a particular point in time, he indeed does so, ensuring that everything that is needed for the success of the work is indeed in place.

11:13 shows that Saul clearly understood that the deliverance in Israel that day wasn't by his hand, but was by Yahweh's hand. Saul rightly gave the credit to Yahweh, for that is where the credit lay.

The Holy Spirit Caused Saul To Strip Off All His Clothes And Lie Down Naked

1 Samuel 19:18-24 reads,

19:18Now David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. He and Samuel went and lived in Naioth. 19:19It was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah. 19:20Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came on the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. 19:21When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied. 19:22Then went he also to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? One said, Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah. 19:23He went there to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God came on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah. 19:24He also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, "Is Saul also among the prophets?"

When the Spirit of the Mighty One, the Holy Spirit, comes upon a person, and decides to use that person's body to undertake a work, he indeed does so. For so he came upon Saul and his servants and they prophesied. And so he came upon Saul, causing Saul to strip off his clothes and lie naked all day and all night long!

One should not venture to act against the Holy Spirit. For one CANNOT succeed against the Holy Spirit. Saul ventured into a territory where the Holy Spirit was working in, out of harmony with the Holy Spirit, and ended up being shamed by being stripped naked for a day and a night!

The Holy Spirit Prophesied By Azariah The Son Of Oded

2 Chronicles 15:1-8 reads,

15:1The Spirit of God came on Azariah the son of Oded: 15:2and he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, Hear you me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: Yahweh is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you. 15:3Now for a long season Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law: 15:4But when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them. 15:5In those times there was no peace to him who went out, nor to him who came in; but great vexations were on all the inhabitants of the lands. 15:6They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God did vex them with all adversity. 15:7But be you strong, and don’t let your hands be slack; for your work shall be rewarded. 15:8When Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill-country of Ephraim; and he renewed the altar of Yahweh, that was before the porch of Yahweh.

The words Azariah the son of Oded prophesied to Asa were the Holy Spirit's words, for he uttered them when the Spirit of the Mighty One came upon him.
