Yahweh Takes Vengeance Against Those Who Despise The Words Of The Holy Spirit

2 Chronicles 24:18-25 reads,

24:18They forsook the house of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols: and wrath came on Judah and Jerusalem for this their guiltiness. 24:19Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again to Yahweh; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear. 24:20The Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people, and said to them, Thus says God, Why disobey you the commandments of Yahweh, so that you can’t prosper? Because you have forsaken Yahweh, he has also forsaken you. 24:21They conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of Yahweh. 24:22Thus Joash the king didn’t remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. When he died, he said, Yahweh look on it, and require it. 24:23It happened at the end of the year, that the army of the Syrians came up against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them to the king of Damascus. 24:24For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men; and Yahweh delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken Yahweh, the God of their fathers. So they executed judgment on Joash. 24:25When they were departed for him (for they left him very sick), his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and killed him on his bed, and he died; and they buried him in the city of David, but they didn’t bury him in the tombs of the kings.

When the words of the Holy Spirit, which he speaks by his prophets, are not heeded, he takes note and eventually takes action against those who refused to abide by his words, if they persist in not listening to him. For when the king and the princes of Judah ignored Yahweh's words and killed Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, through whom the Holy Spirit spoke to them Yahweh's words, he eventually paid them for their wicked deed. He killed the princes of Judah in war in the very same year and also allowed the king's servants to kill him that same year. Yahweh takes vengeance against those who do unrighteousness against his servants.

The Holy Spirit Is Creator Of Humans

Job 33:4 reads,

33:4The Spirit of God has made me,
And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Elihu understood that he, as all other human beings, were made by the Spirit of the Mighty One, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is also therefore Creator.

The Holy Spirit Transported Ezekiel From One Geographical Region To Another

Ezekiel 11:23-25 reads,

11:23The glory of Yahweh went up from the midst of the city, and stood on the mountain which is on the east side of the city. 11:24The Spirit lifted me up, and brought me in the vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me. 11:25Then I spoke to them of the captivity all the things that Yahweh had shown me.

It should be noted that in the vision the Spirit of the Mighty One, the Holy Spirit, lifted Ezekiel up from Israel into Chaldea almost instantaneously. The Holy Spirit indeed has power to miraculously transport a person from one geographical part of the earth to another. While what Ezekiel records happened in vision, so also can it happen in reality, for the power of the Holy Spirit is great indeed.

Yah'shuah And The Holy Spirit Are Counsellors To Yah'shuah's Disciples

John 14:16-18 reads,

14:16I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever, — 14:17the Spirit of truth, whom the world can’t receive; for it doesn’t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you. 14:18I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you.

That the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, is another Counsellor to Yah'shuah's disciples, implies that they already had a Counsellor. That Counsellor was Yah'shuah, who was about to depart from them, thereby necessitating their having another Counsellor to guide them in their ways.

It appears that Yah'shuah and the Holy Spirit perform the same or similar functions. For just as Yah'shuah is Teacher to his disciples, so also is the Holy Spirit. And just as Yah'shuah is Counsellor to his disciples, so also is the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Lived With Yah'shuah's Disciples Prior To Yah'shuah's Glorification

It should be noted that prior to Yah'shuah's glorification the Holy Spirit lived WITH Yah'shuah's disciples, but not IN them. But later, after Yah'shuah's glorification, the Holy Spirit lived IN them.

It should also be noted that it was necessary for Yah'shuah to pray to the Father for the Holy Spirit to dwell in Yah'shuah's disciples. Despite the fact that the Father desired that the Holy Spirit dwell in Yah'shuah's disciples, he did not facilitate this happening prior to Yah'shuah's prayer on behalf of his disciples. It is therefore important that prayer be made to Father Yahweh to facilitate the Holy Spirit dwelling in those the Father desires that he dwells in.

The Holy Spirit Was To Testify About Yah'shuah

John 15:26-27 reads,

15:26"When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me. 15:27You will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

That the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, proceeds from the Father implies that he dwells in the Father.

That Yah'shuah was to send the Holy Spirit to his disciples implies that he was to have authority to so send the Holy Spirit. Seeing that he who sends is greater than he who is sent, it is implied that Yah'shuah was to have greater authority than the Holy Spirit, even though he had lesser authority while he was human. For while he was human it is the Holy Spirit who sent Yah'shuah into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan, at the commencement of his earthly ministry.

One of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to testify about Yah'shuah. He had been with Yah'shuah all along, and knew all details concerning Yah'shuah, and therefore could credibly testify about Yah'shuah.

Functions Of The Holy Spirit

John 16:7-15 reads,

16:7Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don’t go away, the Counselor won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. 16:8When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment; 16:9about sin, because they don’t believe in me; 16:10about righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you see me no more; 16:11about judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.

16:12"I have yet many things to tell you, but you can’t bear them now. 16:13However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever things he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you the things that are coming. 16:14He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you. 16:15All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you.

Yah'shuah explained the functions or activities of the Holy Spirit. He convicts the world about sin, righteousness and judgement. He guides Yah'shuah's disciples into all the truth. He speaks not from himself, or giving his own opinions, but only what the Father gives him to speak, thereby giving the Father's opinions. Therefore whatever emanates from the Holy Spirit has indeed emanated from the Father. The word of the Holy Spirit is therefore the word of the Father.

Yah'shuah's Disciples Have Two Counsellors

1 John 2:1-2 reads,

2:1My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous. 2:2And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

Confirmation that Yah'shuah is indeed Counsellor to his disciples. Seeing that the Holy Spirit is also Counsellor to Yah'shuah's disciples, there are indeed two Counsellors to Yah'shuah's disciples.

The Holy Spirit Instructed David In Night Seasons

Psalm 16:7 reads,

16:7I will bless Yahweh, who has given me counsel.
Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.

The manner Yahweh gave David counsel was by using David's heart to instruct him in night seasons. In other words, the Holy Spirit dwelling in David's heart instructed him in the night in the manner he ought to have behaved.

In like manner does the Holy Spirit counsel those among whom he dwells - Yah'shuah's disciples. Yah'shuah's disciples should therefore be attentive to the counsel of the Holy Spirit, from their heart, in night seasons.

The Holy Spirit Counselled David

Psalm 32:8 reads,

32:8I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go.
I will counsel you with my eye on you.

Psalm 73:22-24 reads,

73:22I was so senseless and ignorant.
I was a brute beast before you.

73:23Nevertheless, I am continually with you.
You have held my right hand.

73:24You will guide me with your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory.

Heed The Counsel Of The Holy Spirit To Avoid Calamity At Yahweh's Hand

Psalm 107:10-12 reads,

107:10Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
Being bound in affliction and iron,
107:11Because they rebelled against the words of God,
And condemned the counsel of the Most High.

107:12Therefore he brought down their heart with labor.
They fell down, and there was none to help.

To avoid calamity at Yahweh's hand it is imperative that he heed his counsel, that counsel that he delivers to us by his Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit's Words Counselled David

Psalm 119:23-24 reads,

119:23Though princes sit and slander me,
Your servant will meditate on your statutes.

119:24Indeed your statutes are my delight,
And my counselors.

Yahweh's statutes were David's counsellors. These are Yahweh's words delivered by his Holy Spirit. Therefore the Holy Spirit counselled David through Yahweh's statutes. We should likewise submit to the counsel of the Holy Spirit through Yahweh's written words, including his statutes.

The Holy Spirit Uttered Proverbs By Solomon

Proverbs 1:1-6 reads,

1:1The proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:

1:2To know wisdom and instruction;
To discern the words of understanding;

1:3To receive instruction in wise dealing,
In righteousness, justice, and equity;

1:4To give prudence to the simple,
Knowledge and discretion to the young man:

1:5That the wise man may hear, and increase in learning;
That the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel:

1:6To understand a proverb, and parables,
The words and riddles of the wise.

By taking note of Solomon's proverbs one indeed attains to sound counsel. This implies that these proverbs were uttered by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of Solomon.

Wisdom Is Synonymous With The Holy Spirit

Proverbs 1:20-33 reads,

1:20Wisdom calls aloud in the street.
She utters her voice in the public squares.

1:21She calls at the head of noisy places.
At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:

1:22"How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity?
How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery,
And fools hate knowledge?

1:23Turn at my reproof.
Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you.
I will make known my words to you.

1:24Because I have called, and you have refused;
I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;

1:25But you have ignored all my counsel,
And wanted none of my reproof;

1:26I also will laugh at your disaster.
I will mock when calamity overtakes you;

1:27When calamity overtakes you like a storm,
When your disaster comes on like a whirlwind;
When distress and anguish come on you.

1:28Then will they call on me, but I will not answer.
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;

1:29Because they hated knowledge,
And didn’t choose the fear of Yahweh.

1:30They wanted none of my counsel.
They despised all my reproof.

1:31Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way,
And be filled with their own schemes.

1:32For the backsliding of the simple will kill them.
The careless ease of fools will destroy them.

1:33But whoever listens to me will dwell securely,
And will be at ease, without fear of harm."

It should be noted that Wisdom is another name for the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit Is Also Known As Understanding And Prudence

Proverbs 8:1-11 reads,

8:1Doesn’t wisdom cry out?
Doesn’t understanding raise her voice?

8:2On the top of high places by the way,
Where the paths meet, she stands.

8:3Beside the gates, at the entry of the city,
At the entry doors, she cries aloud:

8:4"To you men, I call!
I send my voice to the sons of mankind.

8:5You simple, understand prudence.
You fools, be of an understanding heart.

8:6Hear, for I will speak excellent things.
The opening of my lips is for right things.

8:7For my mouth speaks truth.
Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8:8All the words of my mouth are in righteousness.
There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

8:9They are all plain to him who understands,
Right to those who find knowledge.

8:10Receive my instruction rather than silver;
Knowledge rather than choice gold.

8:11For wisdom is better than rubies.
All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.

The Holy Spirit's other names are Understanding and Prudence.

Knowledge, Discretion And Power Are Other Names For The Holy Spirit

Proverbs 8:12-21 reads,

8:12"I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling.
Find out knowledge and discretion.

8:13The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil.
I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

8:14Counsel and sound knowledge are mine.
I have understanding and power.

8:15By me kings reign,
And princes decree justice.

8:16By me princes rule;
Nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.

8:17I love those who love me.
Those who seek me diligently will find me.

8:18With me are riches, honor,
Enduring wealth, and prosperity.

8:19My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold;
My yield than choice silver.

8:20I walk in the way of righteousness,
In the midst of the paths of justice;

8:21That I may give wealth to those who love me.
I fill their treasuries.

History Of The Holy Spirit

Proverbs 8:22-31 reads,

8:22"Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of his work,
Before his deeds of old.

8:23I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning,
Before the earth existed.

8:24When there were no depths, I was brought forth,
When there were no springs abounding with water.

8:25Before the mountains were settled in place,
Before the hills, I was brought forth;

8:26While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields,
Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

8:27When he established the heavens, I was there;
When he set a circle on the surface of the deep,

8:28When he established the clouds above,
When the springs of the deep became strong,

8:29When he gave to the sea its boundary,
That the waters should not violate his commandment,
When he marked out the foundations of the earth;

8:30Then I was the craftsman by his side.
I was a delight day by day,
Always rejoicing before him,

8:31Rejoicing in his whole world.
My delight was with the sons of men.

Blessed Are Those Who Keep The Holy Spirit's Ways

Proverbs 8:32-36 reads,

8:32"Now therefore, my sons, listen to me,
For blessed are those who keep my ways.

8:33Hear instruction, and be wise,
Don’t refuse it.

8:34Blessed is the man who hears me,
Watching daily at my gates,
Waiting at my door posts.

8:35For whoever finds me, finds life,
And will obtain favor from Yahweh.

8:36But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul.
All those who hate me love death."

The Holy Spirit Prepares Bread And Wine For Consumption

Proverbs 9:1-6 reads,

9:1Wisdom has built her house.
She has carved out her seven pillars.

9:2She has prepared her meat.
She has mixed her wine.
She has also set her table.

9:3She has sent out her maidens.
She cries from the highest places of the city:

9:4"Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!"
As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

9:5"Come, eat some of my bread,
Drink some of the wine which I have mixed!

9:6Leave your simple ways, and live.
Walk in the way of understanding."

Wisdom - the Holy Spirit - likens her words to bread, meat and wine.

Listen To Yahweh's Counsel

Proverbs 12:15 reads,

12:15The way of a fool is right in his own eyes,
But he who is wise listens to counsel.

The best counsel that one can listen to is that of Yahweh, delivered by either of the two Counsellors - Yah'shuah or the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 19:20-21 reads,

19:20Listen to counsel and receive instruction,
That you may be wise in your latter end.

19:21There are many plans in a man’s heart,
But Yahweh’s counsel will prevail.

Proverbs 20:5 reads,

20:5Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water;
But a man of understanding will draw it out.

In other words, by having the Holy Spirit dwelling in one, and heeding the Holy Spirit, is draws out the Holy Spirit's counsel that is in one's heart.
