In Romans 8 Paul Reverted To His
Arguments Of Romans 1-5
Romans 8:1-15 reads,
8:1There
is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk
according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 8:2For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ
Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. 8:3For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was
weak through the flesh, God, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful
flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh; 8:4that
the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the
flesh, but after the Spirit. 8:5For
those who are after the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but
those who are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 8:6For the mind of the flesh is death, but the
mind of the Spirit is life and peace; 8:7because
the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God’s
law, neither indeed can it be. 8:8Those
who are in the flesh can’t please God. 8:9But
you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God
dwells in you. But if any man doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
8:10If Christ is in you, the body is
dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 8:11But if the Spirit of him who raised up
Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead
will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
8:12So then, brothers, we are
debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 8:13For if you live after the flesh, you must
die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
8:14For as many as are led by the
Spirit of God, these are children of God. 8:15For
you didn’t receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the
spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, "Abba!
Father!"
In 8:1-15 Paul clearly reverts to his message of Romans 1-5, upholding walking after the Spirit, walking according to the law of Moses - especially the portion that defines sin. He emphasises the importance of ensuring that both body and mind walk after the Spirit - according to the law of Moses - especially the portion that defines sin.
Why Did Paul Speak Confusion To
The Romans?
Why hasn't Paul spoken in a consistent manner in his letter to believers in
Yah'shuah in
Paul Called The Law Of Moses A
Law Of Righteousness
Romans 9:30-33 reads,
9:30What
shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn’t follow after righteousness,
attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith; 9:31but
"Behold, I lay in
And no one who believes in him will be put to shame."
Paul again makes clear, even as in Romans 1-5, that the law of Moses is a law of righteousness.
Paul Called Upon The Law Of Moses
To Defend His Conduct
1 Corinthians 9 reads,
9:1Am
I not free? Am I not an apostle? Haven’t I seen Jesus Christ, our Lord? Aren’t
you my work in the Lord? 9:2If to
others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal of
my apostleship in the Lord. 9:3My
defense to those who examine me is this. 9:4Have
we no right to eat and to drink? 9:5Have
we no right to take along a wife who is a believer, even as the rest of the
apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? 9:6Or have only Barnabas and I no right to not
work? 9:7What soldier ever serves at
his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and doesn’t eat of its fruit? Or who
feeds a flock, and doesn’t drink from the flock’s milk? 9:8Do I speak these things according to the
ways of men? Or doesn’t the law also say the same thing? 9:9For it is written in the law of Moses,
"You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain." Is it
for the oxen that God cares, 9:10or
does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, for our sake it was written,
because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should
partake of his hope. 9:11If we sowed
to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your fleshly things? 9:12If others partake of this right over you,
don’t we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right, but we bear all
things, that we may cause no hindrance to the gospel of Christ. 9:13Don’t you know that those who serve around
sacred things eat from the things of the temple, and those who wait on the
altar have their portion with the altar? 9:14Even
so the Lord ordained that those who proclaim the gospel should live from the
gospel.
9:15But
I have used none of these things, and I don’t write these things that it may be
done so in my case; for I would rather die, than that anyone should make my
boasting void. 9:16For if I preach
the gospel, I have nothing to boast about; for necessity is laid on me; but woe
is to me, if I don’t preach the gospel. 9:17For
if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have
a stewardship entrusted to me. 9:18What
then is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of
Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the gospel. 9:19For though I was free from all, I brought
myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more. 9:20To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might
gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain
those who are under the law; 9:21to
those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but
under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law. 9:22To the weak I became as weak, that I might
gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means
save some. 9:23Now I do this for the
gospel’s sake, that I may be a joint partaker of it. 9:24Don’t you know that those who run in a race
all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win. 9:25Every man who strives in the games
exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible
crown, but we an incorruptible. 9:26I
therefore run like that, as not uncertainly. I fight like that, as not beating
the air, 9:27but I beat my body and
bring it into submission, for fear that by any means, that after I have
preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
In his argument justifying his conduct Paul resorted to using the law of Moses for his defence, as seen in both 9:8-9 and 9:13. That Paul used the law of Moses for his defence implies that he upheld the law of Moses, and suggested that it continued to have application at the time when he wrote what he did.
Paul Introduced What He Called
The Law Of Christ
Also, in 9:20, he states that to the Jews he became as a Jew, and to those who are under the law of Moses he became as one under the law of Moses. In other words, he says that when he was in Jewish company he upheld the application of the law of Moses, and did not speak out against it or argue that it had been abrogated.
In 9:21 he states that to non-Israelites, not under the law of Moses, he became as one not under the law of Moses. Nevertheless, he asserts that he was still under the law of Christ even when he was dealing with non-Israelites. He therefore asserts that there is indeed a law applicable to all human beings, a law he calls the law of Christ.
What Did Paul Mean By The Law Of
Christ?
What is the law Paul called the law of Christ?
Is this what Paul indicated in his letter to the Romans - the portion of the law of Moses that defines sin, the portion that is applicable to all human beings, both Israelites and non-Israelites? The portion that was applicable even from the time of Adam, the first human one earth, prior to the issuance of the law of Moses? The portion that he equated with the gospel?
Paul Called Upon The Prophets To
Support His Message
1 Corinthians 14:20-25 reads,
14:20Brothers,
don’t be children in thoughts, yet in malice be babies, but in thoughts be
mature. 14:21In the law it is
written, "By men of strange languages and by the lips of strangers I will
speak to this people. Not even thus will they hear me, says the Lord."
14:22Therefore other languages are
for a sign, not to those who believe, but to the unbelieving; but prophesying
is for a sign, not to the unbelieving, but to those who believe. 14:23If therefore the whole assembly is
assembled together and all speak with other languages, and unlearned or
unbelieving people come in, won’t they say that you are crazy? 14:24But if all prophesy, and someone
unbelieving or unlearned comes in, he is reproved by all, and he is judged by
all. 14:25And thus the secrets of
his heart are revealed. So he will fall down on his face and worship God,
declaring that God is among you indeed.
Paul here resorts to prophecy in the Scriptures to support his comments to the Corinthians. By this he shows that the Scriptures that he relies on for support are indeed applicable for the purpose for which he uses them.
Paul Forbade Wives To Speak In
The Assemblies Of Yah'shuah
1 Corinthians 14:33-36 reads,
As in all the assemblies of the saints, 14:34let your wives keep silence in the
assemblies, for it has not been permitted for them to speak; but let them be
in subjection, as the law also says. 14:35If
they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home, for it
is shameful for a woman to chatter in the assembly. 14:36What? Was it from you that the word of God
went out? Or did it come to you alone?
In his comments forbidding wives to speak in the assemblies Paul resorts to the law for his defence or support. He says that wives should be in subjection, as the law also says.
What Does The Law Of Moses Say
With Respect To Wives Being In Subjection To Men?
What does the law really say? Does it say that wives should be in subjection to their husbands or does it say that wives should be in subjection to men who are not their husbands?
Does The Law Of Moses Forbid A
Woman From Opening Her Mouth When In The Company Of Men?
Under various provisions of the law, such as Numbers 5:11-31 and Numbers 30, it is clearly noted that a wife is to be subject to her husband. But does her subjection to her husband extend to her not having authority to open her mouth in a group setting, where other men and women are present?
Women Opened Their Mouths In
Yahweh's Assembly In The Days Of Moses
Exodus 15:20-21 reads,
15:20Miriam
the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand;
and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances. 15:21Miriam answered them,
"Sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed
gloriously:
The horse and his rider he has thrown into
the sea."
Isn't it clear that a woman opened her mouth in Yahweh's assembly? Isn't it also clear that ALL the women in Yahweh's assembly followed after her in singing and dancing in praise to Yahweh? Doesn't the law therefore clearly show that women are not forbidden from opening their mouths in Yahweh's assembly? Isn't it therefore the case that women should open their mouths in Yahweh's assembly, singing to, dancing to and praising Yahweh?
Paul Wrongly Used The Law Of
Moses In Silencing Women In Yah'shuah's Assemblies!
Doesn't this clear example in the law show that Paul's words in this matter were not based on the law? Isn't it therefore the case that his attempt to use the law as justification for his practice of silencing women in Yahweh's assemblies was inappropriate?
Women Fully Participated In
Serving Yahweh In Yahweh's Assembly
Exodus 35:20-29 reads,
35:20All
the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of
Moses. 35:21They came, everyone
whose heart stirred him up, and everyone whom his spirit made willing, and
brought Yahweh’s offering, for the work of the tent of meeting, and for all of
its service, and for the holy garments. 35:22They
came, both men and women, as many as were willing-hearted, and
brought brooches, ear-rings, signet-rings, and armlets, all jewels of gold;
even every man who offered an offering of gold to Yahweh. 35:23Everyone, with whom was found blue,
purple, scarlet, fine linen, goats’ hair, rams’ skins dyed red, and sea cow
hides, brought them. 35:24Everyone
who did offer an offering of silver and brass brought Yahweh’s offering; and
everyone, with whom was found acacia wood for any work of the service, brought
it. 35:25All the women who
were wise-hearted spun with their hands, and brought that which they had
spun, the blue, the purple, the scarlet, and the fine linen. 35:26All the women whose heart stirred them
up in wisdom spun the goats’ hair. 35:27The
rulers brought the onyx stones, and the stones to be set, for the ephod and for
the breastplate; 35:28and the spice,
and the oil for the light, for the anointing oil, and for the sweet incense. 35:29The children of Israel brought a freewill
offering to Yahweh; every man and woman, whose heart made them
willing to bring for all the work, which Yahweh had commanded to be made by
Moses.
The law clearly shows that women had an active part in the congregation of the children of Israel, the congregation of Yahweh. For when it came to giving freewill offerings, even the women fully participated. When it came to those having a wise heart to perform various works for the tent of meeting, even the women fully participated. The women were NOT EXCLUDED from fully participating in the work of the tent of meeting. They performed duties appropriate to the gifts and wisdom that Yahweh had given them.
Yahweh Gave Women Wisdom And
Understanding To Serve Him In His Assembly
Exodus 35:30-36:7 reads,
35:30Moses
said to the children of Israel, "Behold, Yahweh has called by name
Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 35:31He has filled him with the Spirit of God,
in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; 35:32and to make skillful works, to work in
gold, in silver, in brass, 35:33in
cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all kinds of
skillful workmanship. 35:34He has
put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach,
of the tribe of Dan. 35:35He has
filled them with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of workmanship, of the
engraver, of the skillful workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, in purple,
in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of those who do any
workmanship, and of those who make skillful works.
36:1"Bezalel
and Oholiab shall work with every wise-hearted man, in whom Yahweh has put
wisdom and understanding to know how to work all the work for the service of
the sanctuary, according to all that Yahweh has commanded."
36:2Moses
called Bezalel and Oholiab, and every wise-hearted man, in whose heart Yahweh
had put wisdom, even everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to the work to
do it: 36:3and they received from
Moses all the offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of
the service of the sanctuary, with which to make it. They brought yet to him
freewill-offerings every morning. 36:4All
the wise men, who performed all the work of the sanctuary, each came from his
work which they did. 36:5They spoke
to Moses, saying, "The people bring much more than enough for the service
of the work which Yahweh commanded to make."
36:6Moses
gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp,
saying, "Let neither man nor woman make anything else for the
offering for the sanctuary." So the people were restrained from
bringing. 36:7For the stuff they had
was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.
It is again evident that women were among those that Yahweh had given wisdom and understanding to know how to work all the work for the service of the sanctuary.
Women Served At The Door Of The
Tent Of Meeting
Exodus 38:8 reads,
38:8He
made the basin of brass, and its base of brass, out of the mirrors of the
ministering women who ministered at the door of the tent of meeting.
It should be noted that there were women who ministered at the door of the tent of meeting. In other words, ministering at the door of the tent of meeting was not an activity that was exclusive to men, but included also women.
Yahweh Made Prophetess Deborah
Wife Of Lappidoth A Judge Over Israel
Judges 4:1-5 reads,
4:1The
children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh, when
Ehud was dead. 4:2Yahweh sold them
into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor; the captain of
whose host was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth of the Gentiles. 4:3The children of Israel cried to Yahweh: for
he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed
the children of Israel. 4:4Now
Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, she judged Israel at that
time. 4:5She lived under the palm
tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill-country of Ephraim: and
the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
Wasn't Deborah the wife of Lappidoth? Nevertheless, didn't she, despite being someone's wife, still judge Israel - Yahweh's congregation or assembly? And wasn't it Yahweh who had given her the gift of prophecy, and made her judge over Israel?
Paul's Practice Of Silencing
Women In Yah'shuah's Assembly Based On Tradition Contrary To Yahweh's Word!
It is therefore clearly observed from both the law and the prophets that women, even those who were wives to men, were not excluded from serving in the assembly of Yahweh. They opened their mouths in singing and dancing and praise to Yahweh. They served in the work of the construction of the tent of meeting, doing so as Yahweh had given them wisdom and understanding to do. They also served and ministered right at the door of the tent of meeting, where the priests and Levites also ministered. And Deborah, a woman, the wife of Lappidoth, also opened her mouth in judging Israel. It is therefore WRONG to rely on the law for justification of a practice of silencing women in Yahweh's assemblies. For the law clearly shows that those women whom Yahweh has gifted and given wisdom and understanding to serve him should do so according to their gift and wisdom. For so did Miriam and Deborah prophesy in Yahweh's assembly. And so did other women serve Yahweh in various capacities in his assembly. It is therefore the clear observation that Paul's practice of silencing women in the assembly was not based on Scripture, but on contrary human tradition!
Paul Asserted That His Words
Contrary To Yahweh's Word Were Yahweh's Word
1 Corinthians 14:37-38 reads,
14:37If
any man thinks himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him recognize the
things which I write to you, that they are the commandment of the Lord.
14:38But if anyone is ignorant, let
him be ignorant.
Paul asserts that his words, including his command to silence women in Yahweh's assemblies, are the commandment of the Master. In his justification for silencing women in Yahweh's assembly he tried to rely on a woman being required to be subject to her husband as the basis for her being silent in Yahweh's assembly. But there is indeed no logical connection between a woman being subject to her husband and her being silent in Yahweh's assembly, unless, indeed, her husband has commanded her to remain silent in Yahweh's assembly. But barring her husband commanding her to remain silent in Yahweh's assembly Paul's justification does not stand!
Paul's Words On Silencing Women
In Yah'shuah's Assemblies Are Unscriptural And Should Be Cast Aside
For examination of the law has clearly shown that women indeed opened their mouths in Yahweh's assembly, doing so in song and dancing and praise, and even in judging men, as seen in the case of Deborah the prophetess. Paul's words that women be silenced in Yahweh's assembly are therefore unscriptural and are simply human tradition contrary to Yahweh's word! They should NOT be abided by!
Women Gifted By Yahweh Should
Appropriately Speak In Yah'shuah's Assemblies
A woman, married or not, whom Yahweh has gifted to serve him in whatever manner, including speaking to his people, should indeed open her mouth and appropriately speak to Yahweh's people. This is the message borne out by Scripture, and this is the practice that Yahweh's people should abide by. Paul was therefore WRONG that his words were the commandment of the Lord. They were not. For Yahweh's commands do not contradict his revealed word in Scripture. Paul was therefore guilty of elevating his personal opinion to Yahweh's word - attributing his own contrary words to Yahweh! This was WRONG!
Paul's Ambiguous Words In Galatians
2:19
Galatians 2:15-21 reads,
2:15"We,
being Jews by nature, and not Gentile sinners, 2:16yet
knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through the
faith of Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be
justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh
will be justified by the works of the law. 2:17But
if, while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found
sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? God forbid! 2:18For if I build up again those things
which I destroyed, I prove myself a law-breaker. 2:19For I, through the law, died to the law,
that I might live to God. 2:20I have
been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living
in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of
God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. 2:21I
don’t make void the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law,
then Christ died for nothing!"
Paul speaks well in the above excerpt until 2:19 when he utters an ambiguous phrase! What does he mean that he "died to the law" "through the law"? How did he die to the law? And how did he do so through the law?
What Law That Can Be Broken Was
Paul Referring To In Galatians 2:18?
In 2:18 he clearly says that if he builds up again those things that he destroyed he proves himself a law-breaker. By proving himself a law-breaker if he pursues such conduct he implies that a law indeed exists, a law that can be broken. Which law is this that he is referring to, the one he was just referring to in the phrase "the works of the law" - the law of Moses?
What Things Would Paul Have Been
Building Up Again?
And what things would he have been building up again?
Doesn't he imply sin? Didn't he just mention sin in 2:17, talking about being sinners while seeking to be justified in Christ? Isn't it therefore clear that it is sin that he could be building up again, seeing that it is sin that he destroyed upon his justification in Christ?
How Did Paul Destroy Sin Upon His
Justification In Christ?
And how did he destroy sin upon his justification in Christ?
Those who are justified in Christ undertake to cease sinful living. Sinful living is living contrary to Yahweh's law, even as contained in the law of Moses. Therefore those who are justified in Christ undertake to live according to Yahweh's law as contained in the law of Moses.
Prior to their justification in Christ they were not right with Yahweh, on account of their sinful living. But upon accepting Christ's sacrifice as payment of the penalty of their sins, upon believing that Yah'shuah the Christ is indeed Yahweh's Son who paid the penalty for their sin, Yahweh forgives them past their sins. At this point they undertake to live a life devoid of sin, a life in harmony with Yahweh's word. They therefore forsake their sinful works - law breaking - and undertake to walk righteously before Yahweh in harmony with his law.
Paul's Ambiguous Words In
Galatians 2:21
Paul's words in 2:21 are also ambiguous!
For he says that if righteousness is through the law then Christ died for nothing! Nevertheless he does not explain what he means by "righteousness"!
Did Paul Contradict Himself In
Galatians 2:21?
In Romans 7 Paul clearly stated that the law is holy, righteous and good. In Romans 2:13 he clearly stated that it is the doers of the law who will be justified, implying that it is the doers of the law, and not the hearers only, who are righteous before the Mighty One! But now he says what appears to be the very opposite! What is Paul talking about? Is he contradicting himself?
In Romans 3:21-22 Paul speaks of a righteousness apart from the law, the righteousness that comes by faith in Yah'shuah the Messiah. By saying this he implied that there were indeed two distinct types of righteousness, one based on doing the law, even as he affirmed in Romans 9:31, and another based on faith in Yah'shuah the Messiah!
But here in Galatians 2:21 he doesn't appear to allow for the righteousness in the law, suggesting that there is only one righteousness, that of faith in Yah'shuah the Messiah!
Paul's message is NOT CLEAR and is indeed CONTRADICTORY! It is because of this unclear and contradictory message that he gives his opponents an opportunity to attack his message. What Paul should have stated in Galatians 2:21, to avoid ambiguity, was "…if JUSTIFICATION was through the law, then Christ died for nothing!" If he had done so there would have been no ambiguity or contradiction. But he didn't do so, and therefore the ambiguities and contradictions remain!
Paul Presented Faith And The
Works Of The Law As Opposed To One Another
Galatians 3:1-18 reads,
3:1Foolish
Galatians, who has bewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose
eyes Jesus Christ was openly set forth among you as crucified? 3:2I just want to learn this from you. Did
you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith? 3:3Are you so foolish? Having begun in the
Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh? 3:4Did
you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain? 3:5He therefore that supplies the Spirit to
you, and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by
hearing of faith? 3:6Even as
Abraham "believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness." 3:7Know therefore that those who are of faith,
the same are sons of Abraham. 3:8The
Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached
the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you will all the nations be
blessed." 3:9So then, those
who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham. 3:10For as many as are of the works of the
law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who doesn’t
continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."
3:11Now that no man is justified by
the law before God is evident, for, "The righteous will live by
faith." 3:12The law is not
of faith, but, "The man who does them will live by them." 3:13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the
law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is
everyone who hangs on a tree," 3:14that
the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus; that
we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. 3:15Brothers, I speak like men. Though it is
only a man’s covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void, or
adds to it. 3:16Now the promises
were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He doesn’t say, "To seeds,"
as of many, but as of one, "To your seed," which is Christ. 3:17Now I say this. A covenant confirmed
beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years
after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect. 3:18For if the inheritance is of the law, it is
no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.
I'll be very frank with you the reader - I DON'T LIKE PAUL'S APPROACH!
Paul Was WRONG To Present Faith
And The Works Of The Law As Opposed To One Another
Paul contrasts faith and the works of the law. Paul presents faith and the works of the law as opposed to one another and contrary to one another. This is what I don't like. For, in truth, faith is NOT OPPOSED to the works of the law. These two - faith and the works of the law - are complements. They are on the same side. Both are opposed to sin. The enemy of faith is NOT the works of the law. The enemy of faith is sin. And the enemy of the works of the law is sin. Faith and the works of the law are on the same side, and are not opposed to each other! Paul is therefore WRONG to present faith and the works of the law as opposed to one another!
The True Gospel As Preached By
The Author
The situation is as follows. A person comes to this earth. He is mortal, in that he can only live for so long. In the course of time he disobeys Yahweh's word, and therefore sins, since sin is disobedience to Yahweh's word. For his sin he incurs a penalty - death. No amount of obedience to Yahweh's word subsequent to his sin can erase the penalty already incurred. He is still subject to the death penalty.
But Yahweh is very gracious and merciful. Yahweh loves this person. Yahweh does not want this person to pay the death penalty for his sin. But Yahweh also knows that there is nothing this person can do in his own strength to save himself from the death penalty. Yahweh therefore sent his Son Yah'shuah to pay the death penalty on behalf of this person.
Because Yah'shuah did not commit his own sin Yahweh raised Yah'shuah back to life after he paid the death penalty for this person. Yahweh then informs this person that he can save this person from the death penalty that he is subject to. The way of salvation for this person from his death penalty is to accept Yah'shuah's payment of his death penalty, and believe that Yah'shuah is indeed Yahweh's Son and Messiah (Anointed One). Therefore, to be spared the death penalty this person has to believe in Yah'shuah the Messiah. Also, this person is not to forget what brought about the death penalty in the first place - his disobedience to Yahweh's word. Yahweh therefore tells this person that he must from the time he accepts Yah'shuah's payment of his death penalty live an obedient life, according to Yahweh's word. Yahweh also warns this person that if he does not live an obedient life, if he is not obedient to Yahweh, then he will again be subject to the death penalty. And if he continues in a life of disobedience to Yahweh's word he will indeed remain under subjection to the death penalty and will eventually pay it, seeing that those who disobey Yahweh's word and reject Yah'shuah's payment of their death penalty, doing so by their disobedient conduct, eventually pay the death penalty themselves.
Yahweh also understands that the person is weak, and is not sufficiently strong to overcome the forces opposing his obedience to Yahweh's word - the force of sin. It was on account of such weakness that the person initially succumbed to disobedience. Yahweh therefore informs the person that upon the person accepting Yah'shuah's payment of his death penalty, doing so by both believing in Yah'shuah and undertaking to live obediently to Yahweh's word, Yahweh will strengthen the person to overcome the forces opposing his obedience to Yahweh. Yahweh strengthens the person by giving the person his Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit dwelling in the person, after he has accepted Yah'shuah's payment of his death penalty and undertaken to be obedient to Yahweh, the person is sufficiently strong to withstand and overcome the forces opposing his obedience to Yahweh's word. And as the person yields to the guidance of the Holy Spirit he will indeed successfully withstand and overcome the forces opposing his obedience to Yahweh's word. In other words, while the person is learning how to yield to the guidance of the Holy Spirit he may indeed succumb, once in a while, to the forces of sin, thereby sinning. But upon repenting of the sin the gracious and merciful Yahweh will indeed forgive him that sin, even as Yahweh forgave him his sins at the time he believed in Yah'shuah as the Messiah and undertook to live obediently to Yahweh. Once he has learned to fully yield to the Holy Spirit he will cease from sin and be fully obedient to Yahweh.
Yahweh will eventually, in the course of time, grant the person everlasting life, which is his gift he grants to those who are both obedient to him and have believed in his Son Yah'shuah the Messiah! Yahweh will therefore change the nature of the person from the one of mortality with which he came to this earth into one of immortality, thereby facilitating the person living forever!
Paul Was WRONG In Stating In
Galatians 3:12 That "The Law Is Not Of Faith"
In Galatians 3:12 Paul states, "the law is not of faith". The implication being that the law is devoid of faith, seeing that he contrasts the law against faith. Nevertheless, in this, Paul is WRONG!
