Christ Ate Flesh After His Resurrection
Luke 24:36-44 reads,
24:36As they said these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace be to you."
24:37But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they saw a spirit.
24:38He said to them, "Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts? 24:39See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see that I have." 24:40When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 24:41While they still didn’t believe for joy, and wondered, he said to them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"
24:42They gave him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 24:43He took it, and ate in front of them. 24:44He said to them, "This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled."
Christ again shows, even after his resurrection, that it is appropriate to eat flesh, seeing that he ate broiled fish after his resurrection, given to him by his disciples.
Christ Did Not Teach His Followers To Live Life As Originally Lived By The First Human Parents
It should therefore be clear that the view or teaching that Christ's followers are to live life exactly as our first parents did while in the Garden of Eden prior to their sin is neither Christ's nor Yahweh's teaching. Christ's teaching in Matthew 19:8 is that divorce was not permitted in the beginning, but was permitted subsequently after human hearts became hard - on account of human sin, permitted only in the case of a wife's sexual immorality. Christ did not teach his male followers to never divorce their wives, but permitted them to do so in the case of sexual immorality of the part of the wife. He therefore did not teach his followers a word that was different to that taught the children of Israel by Yahweh through Moses, but the very same word. Also, Christ did not teach his followers never to eat flesh on the ground that human beings were not permitted to eat flesh until after the flood. Just as Yahweh permitted Noah and his descendants to eat flesh, and commanded the children of Israel to eat flesh in certain instances, and demonstrated the appropriateness of eating flesh by personally eating flesh served him by Abraham, so also Christ taught and did. For Christ both gave others flesh to eat and ate flesh himself.
It would therefore seem that the view or teaching that followers of Christ should not do things that were not done by our first parents in the Garden of Eden prior to their sin is an added teaching or requirement not originating from either Yahweh or Christ. And noting Yahweh's words by Moses to the children of Israel not to add to his words or deduct therefrom, followers of Christ should be careful about adding their own laws or restrictions onto those Yahweh and Christ have given. Where Yahweh and Christ have not imposed a restriction one should not impose a restriction. And where Yahweh and Christ have imposed a restriction one should not remove the imposed restriction. In other words, followers of Christ should follow the example Christ set for them. For just as Christ came to the earth not to speak his own words or do his own works, but those of the Father, so also followers of Christ should not speak their own words or do their own works, but those of Christ. And just as the Father dwelt and dwells in Christ, on account of Christ faithfully abiding by his Father's will, so also does Christ dwell in his followers who faithfully abide by his will and do not do their own works or speak their own words.
Relying On Matthew 19 To Forbid Polygyny Is Speaking One's Own Words Devoid Of Christ's Authority
In the context of marriage and polygyny it is seen that Matthew 19 does not discuss this matter at all. One who therefore attempts to rely on Matthew 19 to place a restriction against polygyny on the followers of Christ, a restriction Christ did not place on his own followers, is not only adding to Christ's words, but is speaking his own words and doing his own works. In such words and works devoid of Christ's authority Christ does not abide in the one who engages in them when so engaged in.
Yahweh's word on polygyny is very clear. Exodus 21:7-11 reads,
21:7"If a man sells his daughter to be a maid-servant, she shall not go out as the men-servants do. 21:8If she doesn’t please her master, who has married her to himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He shall have no right to sell her to a foreign people, seeing he has dealt deceitfully with her. 21:9If he marries her to his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters. 21:10If he takes another wife to himself, he shall not diminish her food, her clothing, and her marital rights. 21:11If he doesn’t do these three things for her, she may go free without paying any money.
Yahweh Allows Israelite Men To Marry More Than One Wife
21:10 clearly shows that Yahweh allows Israelite men to take a wife in addition to the one the man already has. He also states that the man who takes an additional wife must continue providing his existing wife with food, clothing and sex. In other words, the act of taking an additional wife should not be accompanied by putting away the existing wife, but the existing wife must continue to be treated as a wife should be treated, even as she was previously treated.
Deuteronomy 21:15-17 reads,
21:15If a man have two wives, the one beloved, and the other hated, and they have borne him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers who was hated; 21:16then it shall be, in the day that he causes his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not make the son of the beloved the firstborn before the son of the hated, who is the firstborn: 21:17but he shall acknowledge the firstborn, the son of the hated, by giving him a double portion of all that he has; for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.
Yahweh again gives his word on how a man should manage matters in his household when he has more than one wife. This again shows that he allows Israelite men to have more than one wife, only that they are to abide by his word for those who have more than one wife.
Christ Presumably Permits Israelite Men To Marry More Than One Wife
Earlier on we saw in Malachi 3:6 that Yahweh does not change. The word he gave the sons of Jacob in the days of old, in ancient years, words such as these in Exodus 21:7-11 and Deuteronomy 21:15-17, are the very same words that continue to apply at the time of the coming of the messenger of the covenant - Christ! And seeing that Christ clearly showed that he does not speak his own words nor does his own works, doing only Yahweh's works and speaking only Yahweh's words, it is indeed the case that just as Yahweh permits Israelite men to have more than one wife, so also does Christ.
Yahweh Gave David Several Wives
2 Samuel 12:7-12 reads,
12:7Nathan said to David, "You are the man. This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. 12:8I gave you your master’s house, and your master’s wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that would have been too little, I would have added to you many more such things. 12:9Why have you despised the word of Yahweh, to do that which is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. 12:10Now therefore the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ 12:11This is what Yahweh says: ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes, and give them to your neighbor, and he will lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. 12:12For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.’"
It should be noted that Yahweh says that among his gifts to David were his master Saul's wives (widows) as his own wives. In other words, among the blessings Yahweh gave David, in addition to his anointing as king over Israel, his deliverance from the hand of Saul, Saul's house, the house of Israel and Judah, were several wives! Yahweh further adds that if what he had given David was insufficient for David he would have given him more similar things, meaning even more wives if those that he had already given him were insufficient for him! It should therefore be clearly noted that it is indeed a blessing for a man to have a wife - even more than one wife.
The Several Wives Yahweh Gave David Were Good Gifts
In Matthew 7:7-11 Christ says,
7:7"Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened to you. 7:8For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. 7:9Or what man is there of you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 7:10Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? 7:11If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Seeing that Father Yahweh in heaven only gives good gifts to his children, it is indeed established that the several wives that Yahweh gave David were indeed good gifts from Yahweh.
David's Evils Distinguished From His Good Polygyny
In 2 Samuel 12:9 Yahweh lists the evils David did. These were basically murder and adultery, for he sexually lay with another man's wife and then murdered the man, and subsequently formally took the new widow as his wife. It was not evil in Yahweh's sight for David having several wives - wives Yahweh himself gave him. But it was evil in Yahweh's sight for David taking as his wife a woman who was already another man's wife, for this is adultery. In other words, the issue here was the manner David acquired his new wife, not the fact of David having more than one wife, which he already had at this point in time.
It Is Evil To Take Another Man's Wife As Your Own
Learning from Yahweh's dealing with David, and also that Yahweh changes not, and that Christ and Yahweh are one, with Christ doing what he sees Yahweh doing and speaking what he hears from Yahweh, Christ's followers should understand that it is not evil for a man to have more than one wife. It is evil if he takes as his wife a woman who is already another man's wife, for this is adultery. But if he takes as his wife a woman who is not another man's wife, even taking this woman as wife in addition to a wife he already has, it is not evil. In fact, as in David's case with the several wives Yahweh gave him, it may indeed be a blessing from Yahweh in the man taking an additional wife or wives!
Yahweh's Nature At A Point In Time Is His Nature For All Time
Earlier on it was noted in Genesis 1:26-27 that Yahweh created man, both male and female, in his own image and likeness. It was also noted in Malachi 3:6 that Yahweh does not change. The way he was in the days of old, the ancient years, is the way he is today and is also the way he will be in future. He does not change. Therefore, when we notice a certain aspect of Yahweh's nature at a given point in time we should understand that this aspect of Yahweh's nature existed in the past and will continue to exist in future, for he does not change.
Yahweh's Marriage To Two Sisters - Israel And Judah
Jeremiah 3 reads,
3:1They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man’s, will he return to her again? Won’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me, says Yahweh. 3:2Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see; where have you not been lain with? By the ways have you sat for them, as an Arabian in the wilderness; and you have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness. 3:3Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; yet you have a prostitute’s forehead, you refused to be ashamed. 3:4Will you not from this time cry to me, My Father, you are the guide of my youth? 3:5Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it to the end? Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way.
3:6Moreover Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She is gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the prostitute. 3:7I said after she had done all these things, She will return to me; but she didn’t return: and her treacherous sister Judah saw it. 3:8I saw, when, for this very cause that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, didn’t fear; but she also went and played the prostitute. 3:9It happened through the lightness of her prostitution, that the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with stocks. 3:10Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretense, says Yahweh.
3:11Yahweh said to me, Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah. 3:12Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, you backsliding Israel, says Yahweh; I will not look in anger on you; for I am merciful, says Yahweh, I will not keep anger forever. 3:13Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Yahweh your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice, says Yahweh. 3:14Return, backsliding children, says Yahweh; for I am a husband to you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion: 3:15and I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
3:16It shall come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, says Yahweh, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of Yahweh; neither shall it come to mind; neither shall they remember it; neither shall they miss it; neither shall it be made any more. 3:17At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of Yahweh; and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of Yahweh, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart. 3:18In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.
3:19But I said, How I will put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of the nations! and I said, You shall call me My Father, and shall not turn away from following me. 3:20Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so have you dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel, says Yahweh. 3:21A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Yahweh their God. 3:22Return, you backsliding children, I will heal your backsliding. Behold, we are come to you; for you are Yahweh our God. 3:23Truly in vain is the help that is looked for from the hills, the tumult on the mountains: truly in Yahweh our God is the salvation of Israel. 3:24But the shameful thing has devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. 3:25Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against Yahweh our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day; and we have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh our God.
It should be noted that Jeremiah 3 portrays Yahweh as having been married to two sisters - Israel and Judah! In other words, Jeremiah 3 portrays Yahweh as a polygynist - a man married to more than one wife at the same time!
Yahweh Created Humans With Polygynous Capacity
It should also be remembered that Yahweh created man, both male and female, in his own image and likeness. Seeing that Yahweh's image here in Jeremiah 3 is one of Yahweh being a polygynist, and seeing that he made humans in his own image and likeness, it should indeed be understood that human beings were made with the capability of practising polygyny, even as Yahweh is a polygynist! Polygyny is clearly an attribute of Yahweh, an attribute he created human beings with!
Polygyny, An Attribute Of Yahweh, Is Not Evil
Seeing that polygyny is clearly an attribute of Yahweh, polygyny should not be portrayed as evil, or misconstrued as adultery. Matthew 19:16-17 reads,
19:16Behold, one came to him and said, "Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?"
19:17He said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."
Seeing that Yah'shuah (Jesus) affirms that the person who is good is Yahweh himself, it should be noted that whatever is associated with Yahweh's nature is good. And seeing that polygyny is indeed an attribute of Yahweh, it is indeed concluded that polygyny is good, and is not evil, neither is it adultery, as has been misconstrued by some.
Yahweh Divorced Israel On Account Of Israel's Repeated Adultery
Jeremiah 3 also talks about divorce. It shows that Yahweh divorced his wife Israel on account of the latter's repeated adultery. For Israel committed adultery by prostituting herself with many lovers, including stones and stocks. In other words, Israel was idolatrous, rather than faithfully worshipping only Yahweh. And for her repeated faithlessness, treachery and idolatry, Yahweh put her away with a bill of divorce!
Israel's Hard Heart Led To Yahweh Divorcing Her
It should be remembered that in Matthew 19 Christ said that divorce is permitted in the case of hardness of heart. Seeing that Yahweh's heart is not hard it is indeed concluded that the hard heart in this marriage was that of Israel. For Israel sinned against Yahweh, in faithlessness, treachery and idolatry. And on account of her hard heart and resultant sins Yahweh put her away by divorcing her!
It Is Appropriate To Divorce An Adulterous, Faithless, Treacherous And Idolatrous Wife
It should also be noted that Yahweh is good. His action in divorcing his adulterous, faithless, treacherous and idolatrous wife was therefore a good and righteous action! In other words, it should not be concluded that divorce has no place in the marriage relationship of a husband and wife. Where a wife has behaved in a manner giving rise to divorce and persists in that behaviour then the appropriate course of action, as seen from Yahweh's conduct with his marriage to Israel, is to divorce the errant and unrepentant wife!
There Is Both Physical Sexual Immorality And Spiritual Sexual Immorality
It should also be noted that in Israel's case her adultery was not physical adultery, but spiritual adultery. In other words, just as there is physical sexual immorality, there is also spiritual sexual immorality. Spiritual adultery includes traits such as faithlessness, treachery and idolatry. It should therefore be noted that Yahweh's conduct has shown that a husband can indeed divorce his wife for her spiritual adultery.
Yahweh's Word On Polygyny Did Not Change With Christ's Coming
It should therefore be seen, from the examination above, that Yahweh did not change his word on polygyny with the coming of Christ. Just as he allowed the Israelites to practice polygyny prior to Christ's coming, so also he continued to allow them to practice it in the presence of Christ, and also after his death, burial, resurrection and ascension into heaven. Yahweh's word on polygyny did not change with Christ's coming, especially considering that Yahweh does not change, and also that polygyny is an intrinsic part of Yahweh's own nature, he himself having been married to two sisters, Israel and Judah, as seen in Jeremiah 3, or otherwise known as Oholah and Oholibah, as seen in Ezekiel 23. Seeing that Yahweh made humans in his own image and likeness, and seeing that he is indeed polygynous, it is concluded that he made humans polygynous, with humans capable of living polygynous lifestyles, even as he is polygynous.
Don't Think That Christ Came To Destroy The Law And The Prophets
It has been shown above that the view or teaching that Yahweh's words to the children of Israel is different from Christ's words to them, and with Christ's words being applicable today, rather than Yahweh's earlier words, is not really consistent with both Christ's words and Yahweh's words as seen in Scripture. Additional words in the Scripture clarify this matter.
In Matthew 5:17-19 Christ says,
5:17"Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. 5:18For most assuredly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. 5:19Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Those who rely on Yah'shuah's words clearly understand that nothing is to pass away from the law prior to the passing away of heaven and earth! In other words, Yah'shuah clearly identified the TIME when aspects of the law would cease to apply, clearly stating that it would not be prior to the passing away of heaven and earth.
Did Christ's Fulfilment Of The Law And The Prophets Remove The Requirement To Observe The Law?
But some say that Christ's ministry in the flesh fulfilled all that there was to fulfil in the law and the prophets, such that his followers are no longer required to observe the law, seeing that Christ observed it in their stead. Is this view scripturally consistent?
The Fulfilled Matters Are Those Concerning Christ's Suffering And Resurrection
In Luke 24:36-49 we read,
24:36As they said these things, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace be to you."
24:45Then he opened their minds, that they might understand the Scriptures. 24:46He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 24:47and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 24:48You are witnesses of these things. 24:49Behold, I send forth the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high."
Luke 24:44 shows that the things that were fulfilled that are written in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms are those concerning him. This implies that those things written is these documents that do not concern him were not necessarily fulfilled by Christ's suffering and rising from the dead the third day. In fact there are matters is these documents that are to be fulfilled at times that have yet to arrive, and therefore were not fulfilled in Christ's first coming. It should therefore not be concluded that everything that there was to be fulfilled was fulfilled in Christ's first coming. Only those matters that concerned his first coming were fulfilled. Matters concerning his second coming have yet to be fulfilled, yet these are indeed recorded in these documents. It is therefore the case that not everything has been fulfilled, but only those things that were meant to be fulfilled at their appointed times that have already been fulfilled.
It Is Wrong To Conclude That Christ's Ministry Removed The Requirement To Observe Yahweh's Law
It should therefore not be concluded that Christ's ministry removed Yahweh's requirement on human beings to observe his law, with Christ supposedly having observed the law in their stead. For the time when aspects of the law will pass away has yet to come, relying on Christ's words in Matthew 5:17-18.
The Prophet Like Moses Whose Spoken Words Were To Be Heeded
One of the words concerning Christ in the law of Moses is found in Deuteronomy 18:15-19. It reads,
18:15Yahweh your God will raise up to you a prophet from the midst of you, of your brothers, like me; to him you shall listen; 18:16according to all that you desired of Yahweh your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Yahweh my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die. 18:17Yahweh said to me, They have well said that which they have spoken. 18:18I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. 18:19It shall happen, that whoever will not listen to my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
Peter, speaking as recorded in Acts 3:17-26, said,
3:17"Now, brothers, I know that you did this in ignorance, as did also your rulers. 3:18But the things which God announced by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled.
3:19"Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord, 3:20and that he may send Christ Jesus, who was ordained for you before, 3:21whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, whereof God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from ancient times. 3:22For Moses indeed said to the fathers, ‘The Lord God will raise up a prophet to you from among your brothers, like me. You shall listen to him in all things whatever he says to you. 3:23It will be, that every soul that will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 3:24Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, they also told of these days. 3:25You are the sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘In your seed will all the families of the earth be blessed.’ 3:26God, having raised up his servant, Jesus, sent him to you first, to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from your wickedness."
Seeing that Yahweh requires the children of Israel to listen to the words of the prophet that he would raise up from among them, and seeing that Yahweh indeed raised up that prophet, who is Yah'shuah (Jesus), any child of Israel who does not listen to Yahweh's words through Yah'shuah's mouth risks destruction from among the people of Israel! In Luke 24 we note that Christ said that the things that were fulfilled from the law of Moses, the prophets and the psalms were those that concerned him - concerning his suffering and rising from the dead the third day. Peter's words in Acts 3 affirm that what was fulfilled of the prophets' words concerned Christ's suffering. Therefore, listening to Christ's words and believing them, we should understand his words to mean exactly what he said. We should not misconstrue them to mean what they do not - that what was fulfilled meant the doing away of the law of Moses, such that those required to observe the law of Moses no longer were required to so observe the law subsequent to Christ's suffering and resurrection.
Yahweh's Words In Revelation 21 Confirm Christ's Words In Matthew 5:17-18
Revelation 20 describes the time of Yah'shuah's return to earth, of Satan's incarceration for a thousand years, of the resurrection of the just and their rule with Yah'shuah for a thousand years, of the second resurrection of all those who were not in the first resurrection, of their judgement, and of the lake of fire, the second death. After this comes Revelation 21:1-8, which reads,
21:1I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more. 21:2I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 21:3I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, "Behold, God’s tent is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 21:4He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away. 21:5He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." 21:6He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life. 21:7He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son. 21:8But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."
Revelation 21 clearly confirms Yah'shuah's words in Matthew 5:17-18, that the time things - "the first things" pass away is with the passing away of the first heaven and the first earth, which do not pass away prior to the lake of fire - the second death! Yahweh himself - "he who sits on the throne" - says that he makes all things new after the passing away of the first heaven and the first earth, and further affirms that his words are "faithful and true"!
Nothing Has Yet Passed From The Law
If one is to believe Yah'shuah's words in Matthew 5:17-18, John's witness of the vision he saw in Revelation, the heavenly voice as spoken about in Revelation 21, and Yahweh's own words as recorded in Revelation 21, one can come to no conclusion other than to say that nothing has passed away from the law yet, and nothing will pass away from the law prior to the time described in Revelation 20 and 21! In other words, the law, in its entirety, is still applicable in this present day that we are living in!
Does The New Covenant Facilitate Breaking The Lesser Commands Of The Law?
It is said by many that the law contains lesser commands - lesser commands, such as the Old Covenant, superseded by the New Covenant when Yah'shuah came in the flesh. But this view is CONTRARY to Yah'shuah's words in Matthew 5:17-19. He says in Matthew 5:19 that those who break the lesser commands and teach others to so break them shall be called LEAST in the kingdom of heaven!
Who Is Our Authority - Yahweh Or A Human Being?
Many who teach that the Old Covenant has been superseded, annulled, done away with, etc. rely on their understanding of PAUL'S words for their views and teachings. But is human understanding of Paul's word greater in authority than the clear words of Yahweh and Yah'shuah? And if Paul's views are correctly presented, views to the effect that the Old Covenant or the Law was annulled or done away with, is this view valid in the face of both Yahweh and Yah'shuah's words that the Old Covenant or the Law will not pass away prior to the passing away of heaven and earth - the first or current heaven and earth?
In other words, WHO is our authority? Is it Yahweh and Yah'shuah? Or is it our understanding or misunderstanding of Paul's words? Or is it Paul?
Love Yahweh With Your Entire Being
Matthew 22:35-40 reads,
22:35One of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him. 22:36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?" 22:37Jesus said to him, "’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 22:38This is the first and great commandment. 22:39A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 22:40The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."
Loving Yahweh entails both believing him and abiding by his words, even and especially in the face of contrary words. In other words, when faced with a situation of either believing Yahweh or a contrary word, in our love for Yahweh it is Yahweh that we should believe and not contrary words, irrespective of the source of these contrary words, even when such contrary words are presented as having originated from Yahweh - which they manifestly could not have seeing that they are contrary to Yahweh's clear words!
Believe Yahweh And Yah'shuah's Clear Words Rather Than Contrary Words
Therefore, when faced with a situation of either believing Yahweh and Yah'shuah's clear words in Revelation 21 and Matthew 5, or contrary words suggesting that the Old Covenant or Law has been done away with, one should not believe the contrary words but should believe Yahweh and Yah'shuah's clear words. The Old Covenant or the Law has NOT YET been annulled or done away with. Aspects of it will pass away at the general time when heaven and earth pass away and Yahweh makes all things new!

Financial contributions, payable to Servants of Yahweh, and sent to European Business Centre, The Hyde, London, NW9 5AE, United Kingdom, are welcome and gratefully received. These facilitate the effective distribution of the word Yahweh has given us, both in electronic and hard copy formats. Not all have easy access to the Internet and therefore cannot easily access our web site, http://www.serveyahweh.org, for this information where it is freely available. These need hard copies of the information published on our web site. Production and distribution of books and booklets is significantly more costly than publishing and distributing material over the Internet. In this regard your financial contributions, whether by way of tithes and/or freewill offerings, go a great way in disseminating the word Yahweh has given us to the people he wills it to reach. May Yahweh richly bless you for your financial contributions to Servants of Yahweh.
