How Yahweh Visited
Sarah In Her Childlessness
Genesis 21:1-3 reads,
21:1Yahweh
visited Sarah as he had said, and Yahweh did to Sarah as he had spoken.
21:2Sarah conceived, and bore
Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. 21:3Abraham called his son who was born to him,
whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
It should be noted that the manner Yahweh visited Sarah was by doing to her what he had said he would do to her. He had said that Sarah would conceive and bear Abraham a son. And conceive and bear Abraham a son she did. Therefore the manner Yahweh visited childless Sarah was by giving her a child.
How Yahweh Was To
Visit The Children Of
Genesis 50:22-26 reads,
50:22Joseph
lived in
The manner Joseph understood that Yahweh would visit the children of Israel was by honouring the word that he had spoken to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to deliver the children of Israel from a land that was not theirs and into their own land. In other words, the manner one ought to visit an individual in a needy situation is by fulfilling the need of that individual.
How I AM WHO I AM
Was Visiting The Children Of
Exodus 3:13-22 reads,
3:13Moses
said to God, "Behold, when I come to the children of
3:14God
said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM," and he said, "You shall tell the

The manner Yahweh - I AM WHO I AM - was visiting the Israelites was by delivering
them from the affliction of
The Children Of
Israel Believed That Yahweh Had Visited Them In Their Affliction
Exodus 4:29-31 reads,
4:29Moses
and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel. 4:30Aaron spoke all the words which Yahweh had
spoken to Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people. 4:31The people believed, and when they heard
that Yahweh had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their
affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.
Joseph's Prophecy
Concerning Yahweh Visiting The Children Of Israel In Egypt Was Fulfilled
Exodus 13:17-19 reads,
13:17It
happened, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God didn't lead them by the
way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said,
"Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and they
return to Egypt;" 13:18but God
led the people around by the way of the wilderness by the Red Sea; and the
children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt. 13:19Moses took the bones of Joseph with him,
for he had made the children of Israel swear, saying, "God will surely
visit you, and you shall carry up my bones away from here with you."
How Yahweh Visited
Hannah In Her Childlessness
1 Samuel 2:20-21 reads,
2:20Eli
blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, Yahweh give you seed of this woman for the
petition which was asked of Yahweh. They went to their own home. 2:21Yahweh visited Hannah, and she conceived,
and bore three sons and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before Yahweh.
The manner Yahweh visited Hannah was as the manner he visited Sarah. For as he gave Sarah conception and facilitated her bearing a son, so also he gave Hannah conception and facilitated her bearing children, both sons and daughters.
An Effect Of
Yahweh's Visitation
Job 10:11-12 reads,
10:11You
have clothed me with skin and flesh,
And knit me together with bones and sinews.
10:12You
have granted me life and loving kindness.
Your visitation has preserved my spirit.
Job understood and acknowledged that it is Yahweh's "visitation" or actions that preserved his spirit and kept him alive.
Yahweh Judges The
Fatherless And The Oppressed
Psalm 10:12-18 reads,
10:12Arise,
Yahweh! God, lift up your hand!
Don’t forget the helpless.
10:13Why
does the wicked condemn God,
And say in his heart, "God won’t call me into account?"
10:14But
you do see trouble and grief;
You consider it to take it into your hand.
You help the victim and the fatherless.
10:15Break
the arm of the wicked.
As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.
10:16Yahweh
is King forever and ever!
The nations will perish out of his land.
10:17Yahweh,
you have heard the desire of the humble.
You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,
10:18To
judge the fatherless and the oppressed,
That man who is of the earth may terrify no more.
Yahweh Is A Father
Of The Fatherless And A Defender Of Widows
Psalm 68:5-6 reads,
68:5A
father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows,
Is God in his holy habitation.
68:6God
sets the lonely in families.
He brings out the prisoners with singing,
But the rebellious dwell in a sun-scorched land.
Yahweh's people should emulate Yahweh, even as righteous Job emulated Yahweh. They should therefore be fathers to the fatherless, and should be defenders of the widows. And seeing that the role of a woman's defender is that of her husband, Yahweh's menservants should be husbands to widows, marrying the widows and protecting and providing for them.
Receive Into Your
Family Those Who Are Lonely
Yahweh's people should also receive into their families those who are lonely, whether these are fatherless children or widows.
It should be noted that for a lonely person to be set in a family implies that the family into which the lonely person is set is already existing, rather than newly formed. In the case of a fatherless child he or she is simply set in an existing family as an adopted son or daughter. In the case of a widow she is set in an existing family as an additional wife.
Receive A Widow
Into Your Family As An Additional Wife
It should also be noted that Yahweh's law indeed provides for a widow to be set in an existing family as an additional wife. For the levirate law, Deuteronomy 25:5-10, imposes a duty on the surviving brother to receive the widow into his family irrespective of whether or not he already has a wife. In other words, the levirate law applies irrespective of the marital status of the surviving brother at the time he receives his late brother's widow into his household as a wife. Therefore if he is already married, the widow becomes his additional wife. If he is not yet married, the widow becomes his first wife.
Yahweh Has Provided
For Widows Being Received Into Families As Additional Wives
Deuteronomy 25:5-10 reads,
25:5If
brothers dwell together, and one of them die, and have no son, the wife of
the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger: her husband’s brother
shall go in to her, and take her to him as wife, and perform the duty of a
husband’s brother to her. 25:6It
shall be, that the firstborn whom she bears shall succeed in the name of his
brother who is dead, that his name not be blotted out of Israel. 25:7If the man doesn’t want to take his
brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders,
and say, My husband’s brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in
Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me. 25:8Then the elders of his city shall call him,
and speak to him: and if he stand, and say, I don’t want to take her; 25:9then his brother’s wife shall come to him
in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit
in his face; and she shall answer and say, So shall it be done to the man who
does not build up his brother’s house. 25:10His
name shall be called in Israel, The house of him who has his shoe loosed.
It therefore appears that Yahweh's menservants should receive into their households those of Yahweh's people who are lonely, whether these be fatherless children or widows. The fatherless children should be adopted as their children and the widows should be married as their wives, irrespective of whether or not they are already married.
How To Deal With
The Weak And The Needy
Psalm 82:3-4 reads,
82:3"Defend
the weak, the poor, and the fatherless.
Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
82:4Rescue
the weak and needy.
Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked."
Yahweh's Visits Are
Accompanied By Actions
Psalm 104:4-5 reads,
106:4Remember
me, Yahweh, with the favor that you show to your people.
Visit me with your salvation,
106:5That
I may see the prosperity of your chosen,
That I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,
That I may glory with your inheritance.
The manner one is "visited" as described above connotes an action on the part of the visitor resulting in some consequences. In this case the visitation is the provision of salvation, resulting in sight, joy and glory.
Yahweh's
Visitations Upon The Oppressed And The Needy
Psalm 146 reads,
146:1Praise
Yah!
Praise Yahweh, my soul.
146:2While
I live, I will praise Yahweh.
I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.
146:3Don’t
put your trust in princes,
Each a son of man in whom there is no help.
146:4His
spirit departs, and he returns to the earth.
In that very day, his thoughts perish.
146:5Happy
is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in Yahweh, his God:
146:6Who
made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever;
146:7Who
executes justice for the oppressed;
Who gives food to the hungry.
Yahweh frees the prisoners.
146:8Yahweh opens the eyes of the
blind.
Yahweh raises up those who are bowed down.
Yahweh loves the righteous.
146:9Yahweh
preserves the sojourners.
He upholds the fatherless and widow,
But the way of the wicked he turns upside down.
146:10Yahweh
will reign forever;
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise Yah!
Yahweh Defends The
Right Of The Widow
Proverbs 15:25 reads,
15:25Yahweh
will uproot the house of the proud,
But he will keep the widow's borders intact.
Proverbs 23:10-11 reads,
23:10Don’t
move the ancient boundary stone.
Don’t encroach on the fields of the fatherless:
23:11For
their Defender is strong.
He will plead their case against you.
The fatherless, by virtue of being fatherless, have no father to defend them or their interests. Nevertheless, Yahweh acts to defend them and pleads their case against their oppressors.
Yahweh Allows The
Widows And Fatherless Of The Wicked To Suffer
Isaiah 9:8-21 reads,
9:8The
Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it has lighted on Israel. 9:9All the people shall know, even Ephraim and
the inhabitant of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart, 9:10The bricks are fallen, but we will build
with hewn stone; the sycamores are cut down, but we will put cedars in their
place. 9:11Therefore Yahweh will set
up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and will stir up his enemies, 9:12the Syrians before, and the Philistines
behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is
not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 9:13Yet the people have not turned to him who
struck them, neither have they sought Yahweh of Hosts. 9:14Therefore Yahweh will cut off from Israel
head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day. 9:15The
elder and the honorable man, he is the head; and the prophet who teaches lies,
he is the tail. 9:16For those who
lead this people cause them to err; and those who are led of them are
destroyed. 9:17Therefore the Lord
will not rejoice over their young men, neither will he have compassion on their
fatherless and widows; for everyone is profane and an evil-doer, and every
mouth speaks folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is
stretched out still. 9:18For
wickedness burns as the fire; it devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles
in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke. 9:19Through the wrath of Yahweh of hosts is the
land burnt up; and the people are as the fuel of fire: no man spares his brother.
9:20One shall snatch on the right
hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be
satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm: 9:21Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh;
and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned
away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Yahweh's Visits Are
Accompanied By Actions
Isaiah 23:14-18 reads,
23:14Howl,
you ships of Tarshish; for your stronghold is laid waste. 23:15It shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre
shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after
the end of seventy years it shall be to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute. 23:16Take a harp, go about the city, you
prostitute that has been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that
you may be remembered. 23:17It shall
happen after the end of seventy years, that Yahweh will visit Tyre, and she
shall return to her hire, and shall play the prostitute with all the kingdoms
of the world on the surface of the earth. 23:18Her
merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to Yahweh: it shall not be treasured
nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for those who dwell before Yahweh, to
eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
The manner "visit" has here been used is in the context of Yahweh remembering forgotten Tyre, the prostitute who had been forgotten seventy years. By Yahweh remembering her, by Yahweh visiting her, he facilitates her returning to her former estate - playing the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world.
How Yahweh Will
Take As Wife A Widow In Shame And Reproach
Isaiah 54 reads,
54:1Sing,
barren, you who didn't bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who
did not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the
children of the married wife, says Yahweh. 54:2Enlarge
the place of your tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of your
habitations; don't spare: lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. 54:3For you shall spread aboard on the right
hand and on the left; and your seed shall possess the nations, and make the
desolate cities to be inhabited. 54:4Don't
be afraid; for you shall not be ashamed: neither be confounded; for you shall
not be disappointed: for you shall forget the shame of your youth; and the
reproach of your widowhood shall you remember no more. 54:5For your Maker is your husband; Yahweh of
Hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; the God of the
whole earth shall he be called. 54:6For
Yahweh has called you as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of
youth, when she is cast off, says your God. 54:7For
a small moment have I forsaken you; but with great mercies will I gather you. 54:8In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you
for a moment; but with everlasting loving kindness will I have mercy on you,
says Yahweh your Redeemer. 54:9For
this is as the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of
Noah shall no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I will not be angry
with you, nor rebuke you. 54:10For
the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my loving kindness
shall not depart from you, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed, says
Yahweh who has mercy on you. 54:11You
afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will set your
stones in beautiful colors, and lay your foundations with sapphires. 54:12I will make your pinnacles of rubies, and
your gates of emeralds, and all your border of precious stones. 54:13All your children shall be taught of
Yahweh; and great shall be the peace of your children. 54:14In righteousness shall you be established:
you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not be afraid; and from terror,
for it shall not come near you. 54:15Behold,
they may gather together, but not by me: whoever shall gather together against
you shall fall because of you. 54:16Behold,
I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals, and brings forth a weapon
for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. 54:17No weapon that is formed against you shall
prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall
condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Yahweh, and their
righteousness which is of me, says Yahweh.
A Forsaken Wife Is
Effectively A Widow
It should be noted that Yahweh calls his servants his wife. In her youth Yahweh forsook her and cast her off. While she was forsaken she was indeed in shame and reproach, as in widowhood. And Yahweh likens her forsaken state to that of widowhood. In other words, it would seem that a widow is in the same situation as a forsaken woman, both being without a husband to protect and provide for them. And it is shameful and reproachful for a woman to be without a husband to protect and provide for her.
It Is A Reproach
For A Woman To Be Without A Husband
In this context Isaiah 3:18-4:1 should be noted,
3:18In
that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, the headbands,
the crescent necklaces, 3:19the
earrings, the bracelets, the veils, 3:20the
headdresses, the ankle chains, the sashes, the perfume bottles, the charms, 3:21the signet rings, the nose rings, 3:22the fine robes, the capes, the cloaks, the
purses, 3:23the hand-mirrors, the
fine linen garments, the tiaras, and the shawls.
3:24It
shall happen that instead of sweet spices, there shall be rottenness;
Instead of a belt, a rope;
Instead of well set hair, baldness;
Instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth;
And branding instead of beauty.
3:25Your
men shall fall by the sword,
And your mighty in the war.
3:26Her
gates shall lament and mourn;
And she shall be desolate and sit on the ground.
4:1Seven
women shall take hold of one man in that day, saying, "We will eat our own
bread, and wear our own clothing: only let us be called by your name. Take away
our reproach."
It should therefore be clear that it is indeed, according to Yahweh, a reproach for a woman to be without a husband. And in the circumstances of Isaiah 4:1, after many men will have fallen by the sword, leaving very few surviving men, several women will seek to be married by one man that their reproach may be removed from them. So desperate will they seek to have their reproach removed from them that they will not even insist that their one husband provide for all of them. They will provide for themselves but will still seek the protection of this husband through being married to him. And by so being married to him, even several of them being married to him, their reproach of being unmarried is indeed removed from them.
Yahweh Will
Fabulously Provide For His Wife Previously A Widow
In Isaiah 54:11-17 Yahweh shows how he will fabulously provide for his wife - his servants. He will give them not just the basics of life, but also the finer things of life. He shall also teach them and protect them from potential oppressors. This is the heritage of Yahweh's wife - the servants of Yahweh. And this example of providing for one's wife is one Yahweh's servants ought to emulate.
Shepherds Should
Visit Yahweh's Flock By Taking Good Care Of Them
Jeremiah 23:1-2 reads,
23:1Woe
to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says Yahweh. 23:2Therefore thus says Yahweh, the God of
Israel, against the shepherds who feed my people: You have scattered my
flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them; behold, I will visit on
you the evil of your doings, says Yahweh.
The shepherds should have visited Yahweh's flock by shepherding them, taking good care of them, and not scattering them and destroying them. The manner Yahweh visits such shepherds is by avenging himself on them - punishing them for the sins.
The Time Of
Visitation Is A Time For Action
Jeremiah 27:19-22 reads,
27:19For
thus says Yahweh of Hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and
concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are left
in this city, 27:20which
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon didn't take, when he carried away captive
Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and
all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem; 27:21yes,
thus says Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are
left in the house of Yahweh, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at
Jerusalem: 27:22They shall be
carried to Babylon, and there shall they be, until the day that I visit them,
says Yahweh; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
The time of visitation is the time of action.
The Manner Yahweh
Was To Visit Judah In Captivity Was By Freeing Her From Captivity
Jeremiah 29:10-14 reads,
29:10For
thus says Yahweh, After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will
visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to
this place. 29:11For I know the
thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of
evil, to give you hope in your latter end. 29:12You
shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 29:13You shall seek me, and find me, when you
shall search for me with all your heart. 29:14I
will be found of you, says Yahweh, and I will turn again your captivity, and I
will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places wither I have
driven you, says Yahweh; and I will bring you again to the place whence I
caused you to be carried away captive.
Zedekiah Was To
Remain In Babylon Until The Time Of Yahweh's Visitation Upon Him
Jeremiah 32:1-5 reads,
32:1The
word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of
Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar. 32:2Now at that time the king of Babylon's army
was besieging Jerusalem; and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of
the guard, which was in the king of Judah's house. 32:3For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Why
do you prophesy, and say, Thus says Yahweh, Behold, I will give this city into
the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it; 32:4and Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape
out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand
of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes
shall see his eyes; 32:5and he
shall bring Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, says
Yahweh: though you fight with the Chaldeans, you shall not prosper?
The Needy Should
Place Their Trust In Yahweh
Jeremiah 49:11-13 reads,
49:11Leave
your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let your widows trust
in me. 49:12For thus says
Yahweh: Behold, they to whom it didn’t pertain to drink of the cup shall
assuredly drink; and are you he who shall altogether go unpunished? You shall
not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink. 49:13For
I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, that Bozrah shall become an astonishment,
a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities of it shall be perpetual
wastes.
Those who are needy, such as fatherless children and widows, should place their trust and confidence in Yahweh. For Yahweh is indeed able to preserve them alive, protect them and provide for them.
In Yahweh The
Fatherless Finds Mercy
Hosea 14:1-3 reads,
14:1Israel,
return to Yahweh your God;
For you have fallen because of your sin.
14:2Take
words with you, and return to Yahweh.
Tell him, "Forgive all our sins,
And accept that which is good:
So we offer like bulls our lips.
14:3Assyria
can’t save us.
We won’t ride on horses;
Neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, ‘Our gods!’
For in you the fatherless finds mercy."
Yahweh Will Restore
The Remnant Of Judah At The Time Of Her Visitation
Zephaniah 2:1-7 reads,
2:1Gather
yourselves together, yes, gather together, you nation that has no shame, 2:2before the appointed time when the day
passes as the chaff, before the fierce anger of Yahweh comes on you, before the
day of Yahweh's anger comes on you. 2:3Seek
Yahweh, all you humble of the land, who have kept his ordinances. Seek
righteousness. Seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of
Yahweh's anger. 2:4For Gaza will be
forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation. They will drive out Ashdod at noonday, and
Ekron will be rooted up. 2:5Woe to
the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of
Yahweh is against you, Canaan, the land of the Philistines. I will destroy you,
that there will be no inhabitant. 2:6The
sea coast will be pastures, with cottages for shepherds and folds for flocks. 2:7The coast will be for the remnant of the
house of Judah. They will find pasture. In the houses of Ashkelon, they will
lie down in the evening, for Yahweh, their God, will visit them, and restore
them.
Yahweh Was To
Greatly Uplift The House Of Judah At The Time Of Her Visitation From Him
Zechariah 10:3-5 reads,
10:3My
anger is kindled against the shepherds,
And I will punish the male goats;
For Yahweh of Hosts has visited his flock, the house of Judah,
And will make them as his horse in the battle that he is proud of.
10:4From
him will come forth the corner-stone,
From him the nail,
From him the battle bow,
From him every ruler together.
10:5They shall be as mighty men,
Treading down muddy streets in the battle;
And they shall fight, because Yahweh is with them;
And the riders on horses will be confounded.
Yahweh Visited His
People Israel By Working Redemption For Them
Luke 1:67-79 reads,
1:67His
father, Zacharias, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,
1:68"Blessed
be the Lord, the God of Israel,
For he has visited and worked redemption for his people;
1:69And
has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David
1:70(As he spoke by the mouth of his
holy prophets who have been from of old),
1:71Salvation from our enemies, and
from the hand of all who hate us;
1:72To
show mercy towards our fathers,
To remember his holy covenant,
1:73The
oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father,
1:74To grant to us that we, being
delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,
1:75In holiness and righteousness
before him all the days of our life.
1:76And
you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High,
For you will go before the face of the Lord to make ready his ways,
1:77To give knowledge of salvation
to his people by the remission of their sins,
1:78Because
of the tender mercy of our God,
Whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,
1:79To shine on those who sit in
darkness and the shadow of death;
To guide our feet into the way of peace."
Yahweh Visited His
People By Sending Them A Great Prophet Working Good Works And Mighty Deeds
Luke 7:11-17 reads,
7:11It
happened soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain. Many of his
disciples, along with a great multitude, went with him. 7:12Now when he drew near to the gate of the city,
behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she
was a widow. Many people of the city were with her. 7:13When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on
her, and said to her, "Don't cry." 7:14He came near and touched the coffin, and
the bearers stood still. He said, "Young man, I
tell you, arise!" 7:15He
who was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he gave him to his mother.
7:16Fear
took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has
arisen among us!" and, "God has visited his people!" 7:17This report went out concerning him in the
whole of Judea, and in all the surrounding region.
The manner the people understood that Yahweh had visited his people was by sending them a great prophet who performed many good and mighty works.
Yahweh Visited The
Gentiles By Taking Out Of Them A People For His Name
Acts 15:12-21 reads,
15:12All
the multitude kept silence, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul reporting
what signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. 15:13After they were silent, James answered,
"Brothers, listen to me. 15:14Simeon
has reported how God first visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people
for his name. 15:15This agrees
with the words of the prophets. As it is written,
15:16'After
these things I will return.
I will again build the tent of David, which has fallen.
I will again build its ruins.
I will set it up,
15:17That the rest of men may seek
after the Lord;
All the Gentiles who are called by my name,
Says the Lord, who does all these things.
15:18All his works are known to God
from eternity.'
15:19"Therefore
my judgment is that we don't trouble those from among the Gentiles who turn to
God, 15:20but that we write to them
