Being Religious Does Not Exclude One From Belonging To The World

John 18:20-21 reads,

18:20Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where the Jews always meet. I said nothing in secret. 18:21Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them. Behold, these know the things which I said."

Yah'shuah here equated the world with the Jews - those who met in synagogues and in the temple. In other words, just because a group of people regularly attend religious services does not exclude them from belonging to the world - belonging to the group of people who hate Yah'shuah, who do not believe in him and who do not do his commandments!

In The World Exist Those Who Are Of Truth And Those Who Are Not Of Truth

John 18:36-37 reads,

18:36Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I wouldn’t be delivered to the Jews. But now my kingdom is not from here."

18:37Pilate therefore said to him, "Are you a king then?"

Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. To this end I have been born, and to this end I have come into the world, that I should testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice."

Yah'shuah contrasts those who are of the truth from those of the world. In other words, in the world are two groups of people - those who belong to the truth and those who do not so belong. Those who do not so belong are those who hate Yah'shuah, who do not believe in him and who do not love him. Those who belong to the truth are those who are redeemed from the world, coming to believe in Yah'shuah, coming to love Yah'shuah and coming to observe Yah'shuah's commandments.

Worldly People Oppress Yah'shuah's Servants

Acts 17:1-9 reads,

17:1Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews. 17:2Paul, as was his custom, went in to them, and for three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures, 17:3explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer, and to rise again from the dead, and saying, "This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ."

17:4Some of them were persuaded, and joined Paul and Silas, of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and not a few of the chief women. 17:5But the disobedient Jews gathered some wicked men from the marketplace, and gathering a crowd, set the city in an uproar. Assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people. 17:6When they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and certain brothers before the rulers of the city, crying, "These who have turned the world upside down have come here also, 17:7whom Jason has received. These all act contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, Jesus!" 17:8The multitude and the rulers of the city were troubled when they heard these things. 17:9When they had taken security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.

Yahweh Will Judge The World By Yah'shuah

Acts 17:30-31 reads,

17:30The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all men everywhere should repent, 17:31because he has appointed a day in which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained; whereof he has given assurance to all men, in that he has raised him from the dead."

The World Is Steeped In Idolatry

Acts 19:23-27 reads,

19:23About that time there arose no small stir concerning the Way. 19:24For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen, 19:25whom he gathered together, with the workmen of like occupation, and said, "Sirs, you know that by this business we have our wealth. 19:26You see and hear, that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods, that are made with hands. 19:27Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing, and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships."

The World Is Devoid Of The Mighty One's Attributes

Romans 12:1-2 reads,

12:1Therefore I beg you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service. 12:2Don’t be fashioned according to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Paul contrasted "this world" with the good and acceptable and perfect will of the Mighty One. Implying that "this world" is devoid of these attributes of the Mighty One.

Despite Its Wisdom The World Does Not Know Yahweh

1 Corinthians 1:20-30 reads,

1:20Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn’t God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 1:21For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn’t know God, it was God’s good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe. 1:22For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom, 1:23but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks, 1:24but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1:25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1:26For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble; 1:27but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong; 1:28and God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are: 1:29that no flesh should boast before God. 1:30But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption: 1:31that, according as it is written, "He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord."

The World Has Its Own Spirit Distinct From The Mighty One's Spirit

1 Corinthians 2:11-15 reads,

2:11For who among men knows the things of a man, except the spirit of the man, which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God, except God’s Spirit. 2:12But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God. 2:13Which things also we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things. 2:14Now the natural man doesn’t receive the things of the God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he can’t know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 2:15But he who is spiritual discerns all things, and he himself is judged by no one.

It should be noted that the spirit of the world is contrasted with the Spirit from the Mighty One.

"The World" Includes Even Angels Who Do Not Belong To Yah'shuah

1 Corinthians 4:9 reads,

4:9For, I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last of all, like men sentenced to death. For we are made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and men.

According to Paul's view the world includes both angels and men. In other words, those who do not love Yah'shuah and observe his commandments are not confined to the realm of men, but include angels.

Some Worldly Traits

1 Corinthians 5:9-12 reads,

5:9I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners; 5:10yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would have to leave the world. 5:11But as it is, I wrote to you not to keep company, if any man who is named a brother is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don’t even eat with such a person. 5:12For what have I to do with also judging those who are outside? Don’t you judge those who are within? 5:13But those who are outside, God judges. "Put away the wicked man from among yourselves."

The traits of the world include sexual sin, covetousness, extortion, idolatry, slander and drunkenness.

The Blinding Power Of The God Of This World

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 reads,

4:3Even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in those who perish; 4:4in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.

The god of this world is Satan - the adversary to Yah'shuah.

Yahweh Through Yah'shuah Is Reconciling The World To Himself

2 Corinthians 5:18-21 reads,

5:18But all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation; 5:19namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses, and having committed to us the word of reconciliation. 5:20We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us. We beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 5:21For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

It should be noted that the entire world - all human beings, belong to the Mighty One. This is what Yah'shuah affirmed in John 17, and Paul repeats, in his own words, the same message.

The World Was Formerly At One With Yahweh

That the world needs to be reconciled to the Mighty One implies that it was at some time in the past at one with the Mighty One. Seeing that reconciliation of the world to the Mighty One involves belief, love and commandment keeping, it is implied that the time in the past when the world was at one with the Mighty One was a time when the world lived in belief, love and commandment keeping. It is also implied that the oneness the world had with the Mighty One was severed when the world departed from the way of belief, love and commandment keeping to the way of unbelief, hatred and commandment breaking - sin! In other words, walking faithfully before the Mighty One facilitates being at one with him, while walking unfaithfully before him ensures estrangement from him.

The Prince Of The Powers Of The Air

Ephesians 2:1-3 reads,

2:1You were made alive when you were dead through trespasses and sins, 2:2in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience; 2:3among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

The Spiritual Hosts Yah'shuah's Servants Wrestle Against

Ephesians 6:10-13 reads,

6:10Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. 6:11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 6:12For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 6:13Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.

Yah'shuah's Disciples Are Lights In The World

Philippians 2:14-16 reads,

2:14Do all things without murmurings and disputes, 2:15that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world, 2:16holding up the word of life; that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ, that I didn’t run in vain nor labor in vain.

"The Elements Of The World"

Colossians 2:6-8 reads,

2:6As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in him, 2:7rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving. 2:8Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ.

It should be noted that "the elements of the world" are equated with human philosophy, vain deceit and the tradition of men. These are aspects devoid of the way of Christ and his Father, Yahweh.

Paul Reiterated What He Meant By "The Elements Of The World"

Colossians 2:20-23 reads,

2:20If you died with Christ from the elements of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to ordinances, 2:21"Don’t handle, nor taste, nor touch" 2:22(all which things are to perish with the using), after the precepts and doctrines of men? 2:23Which things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but aren’t of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.

Paul again reiterates what he means by "the elements of the world". These are worldly ways - the ways of those who do not believe in Christ, who do not love Christ, who do not obey Christ's commandments. Those who do not follow Christ have their own ordinances, precepts and doctrines - all originating from among themselves and not from Christ! Paul stresses that Christians are not to subject themselves to these worldly precepts and doctrines that are not founded on Christ, but originate among men who do not believe in Christ, hate Christ and disobey Christ's commandments.

"The Elements Of The World" Should Not Be Confused With Yahweh's Commandments

It is stressed that "the elements of the world" SHOULD NOT be confused with Yahweh's word that he gave to his children the Israelites. For Christ is at one with his Father Yahweh, and speaks only what his Father gives him to speak - what he hears of his Father. Seeing therefore that the word Yahweh gave to the children of Israel DID NOT originate with men devoid of belief in Yahweh, who hate Yahweh and who do not abide in Yahweh's commandments, the word Yahweh gave to the children of Israel is CERTAINLY NOT the same as "the elements of the world". Yahweh's word should therefore not be confused with "the elements of the world".

Yah'shuah Came Into The World To Save Sinners

1 Timothy 1:15-16 reads,

1:15The saying is faithful, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 1:16However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief, Jesus Christ might display all his patience, for an example of those who were going to believe in him to eternal life.

Those Who Fall Away From Christ To Return To The World Are Antichrists

2 Timothy 4:9-11 reads,

4:9Be diligent to come to me soon, 4:10for Demas left me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. 4:11Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministering.

Those who love this present world are those who do not believe in Christ, do not love Christ and do not keep Christ's commandments. If such a one is one who had accepted the way of Christ, then he rejects Christ's way in favour of the anti-Christ way!

Yah'shuah's Disciples Should Deny Ungodliness And Worldly Lusts

Titus 2:9-14 reads,

2:9Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing in all things; not contradicting; 2:10not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things. 2:11For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 2:12instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; 2:13looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ; 2:14who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.

Worldly Traits And Yahweh's Judgement Upon Those Who Hold Such Traits

James 4:1-10 reads,

4:1Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 4:2You lust, and don’t have. You kill, covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. Yet you don’t have, because you don’t ask. 4:3You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask amiss, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. 4:4You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 4:5Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously"? 4:6But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." 4:7Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 4:8Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 4:9Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 4:10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Worldly Teachers Masquerading As Servants Of Christ

2 Peter 2 reads,

2:1But there also arose false prophets among the people, as among you also there will be false teachers, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. 2:2Many will follow their destructive ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned. 2:3In covetousness will they exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn’t linger, and their destruction will not slumber. 2:4For if God didn’t spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved to judgment; 2:5and didn’t spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly; 2:6and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly; 2:7and delivered righteous Lot, very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked 2:8(for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, tormented his righteous soul from day to day with lawless deeds): 2:9the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment to the day of judgment; 2:10but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement, and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries; 2:11whereas angels, though greater in might and power, don’t bring a railing judgment against them before the Lord. 2:12But these, as creatures without reason, born mere animals to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant, will in their destroying surely be destroyed, 2:13receiving the wages of unrighteousness; people who count it pleasure to revel in the day-time, spots and blemishes, reveling in their deceit while they feast with you; 2:14having eyes full of adultery, and who can’t cease from sin; enticing unsettled souls; having a heart trained in greed; children of cursing; 2:15forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrong-doing; 2:16but he was rebuked for his own disobedience. A mute donkey spoke with man’s voice and stopped the madness of the prophet. 2:17These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm; for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever. 2:18For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error; 2:19promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for by whom a man is overcome, by the same is he also brought into bondage. 2:20For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state has become worse with them than the first. 2:21For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. 2:22But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, "The dog turns to his own vomit again," and "the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire."

Yah'shuah The Atoning Sacrifice For The Sins Of All In The World

1 John 2:1-6 reads,

2:1My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous. 2:2And he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. 2:3This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments. 2:4He who says, "I know him," and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 2:5But whoever keeps his word, God’s love has most assuredly been perfected in him. This is how we know that we are in him: 2:6he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.

Why You Should Not Love The World

1 John 2:15-17 reads,

2:15Don’t love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him. 2:16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s. 2:17The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever.

The Way Of The World Contrasted Against The Way Of Righteousness

1 John 3 reads,

3:1Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him. 3:2Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. But we know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is. 3:3Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure. 3:4Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness. 3:5You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and in him is no sin. 3:6Whoever remains in him doesn’t sin. Whoever sins hasn’t seen him, neither knows him. 3:7Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 3:8He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 3:9Whoever is born of God doesn’t commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can’t sin, because he is born of God. 3:10In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever doesn’t do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who doesn’t love his brother. 3:11For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; 3:12unlike Cain, who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his works were evil, and his brother’s righteous. 3:13Don’t be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you. 3:14We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who doesn’t love his brother remains in death. 3:15Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life remaining in him. 3:16By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. We ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 3:17But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his compassion from him, how does the love of God remain in him? 3:18My little children, let’s not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth. 3:19And by this we know that we are of the truth, and persuade our hearts before him, 3:20because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. 3:21Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God; 3:22and whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight. 3:23This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded. 3:24He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.

Worldly Spirits Masquerading As Spirits Of Truth

1 John 4:1-6 reads,

4:1Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 4:2By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 4:3and every spirit who doesn’t confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God, and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of whom you have heard that it comes. Now it is in the world already. 4:4You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. 4:5They are of the world. Therefore they speak of the world, and the world hears them. 4:6We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn’t listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

How To Overcome The World

1 John 5:1-5 reads,

5:1Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the father also loves the child who is born of him. 5:2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments. 5:3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous. 5:4For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith. 5:5Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

The Whole World Lies In The Power Of The Evil One

1 John 5:14-21 reads,

5:14This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us. 5:15And if we know that he listens to us whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of him. 5:16If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life for those who sin not to death. There is a sin leading to death. I don’t say that concerning this he should make a request. 5:17All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death. 5:18We know that whoever is born of God doesn’t sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesn’t touch him. 5:19We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 5:20We know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we know him who is true, and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. 5:21Little children, keep yourselves from idols.

Deceivers Are Operating In The World

2 John 6-11 reads,

1:6This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it. 1:7For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don’t confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist. 1:8Watch yourselves, that we don’t lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward. 1:9Whoever transgresses and doesn’t remain in the teaching of Christ, doesn’t have God. He who remains in the teaching, the same has both the Father and the Son. 1:10If anyone comes to you, and doesn’t bring this teaching, don’t receive him into your house, and don’t welcome him, 1:11for he who welcomes him participates in his evil works.

The World Encompasses Those Who Dwell On The Earth

Revelation 3:10 reads,

3:10Because you kept the word of my patience, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that which is to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

The Deceiver Of The Whole World

Revelation 12:7-9 reads,

12:7There was war in the sky. Michael and his angels made war on the dragon. The dragon and his angels made war. 12:8They didn’t prevail, neither was a place found for him any more in heaven. 12:9The great dragon was thrown down, the old serpent, he who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world. He was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.
